I have installed ME 7.0 then updated to 7.1.1 and am experiencing noticable lag with right click context operations and opening files. ME 5.5 does not have this issue.

    Hi drscovill,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing performance delays. To help me reproduce this at my end, can you do the following –
    1. copy and paste your installation detail. You need to go to MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Detail
    2. When you experience the time lag on right click, can you tell me how many projects have you opened in ME 7.1.1 and what is the approximate file size, similarly how many projects have you opened in ME 5.5 and what is the project size? What are the type of projects ,etc, If you can elaborate in detail and help me reproduce, I can have the dev team investigate this further.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi,

I’m also experiencing a performance delay after upgrading to MyEclipse 7.1.1 (from MyEclipse 6.0). Startup is faster,
but editing a java/jsp file takes a lot more time (code completion, saving).

Also… double clicking on a file in the package explorer does not always open the
requested file, but gives focus on an already open file (this is very annoying).

    Thanks,

    Teun Hoogendoorn

I experience the lag even if all projects are collapsed and i just righ click on a project.

If i open one ejb project and then open a file that has 32 lines in it there is still a lag (or think time) of a couple seconds

    I have:

    1 ear
    1 war
    7 java projects
    26 ejb project

In the workspace i have open windows explorer shows

    Size 1.3 Gig
    contains; 35k files 11k folders

I am using the workspace from 5.5

note we are using CVS so of course we have the added CVS folders and files

    drscovill,
Thank you for the details provided. I will have a dev team member assist you on this.

    Teun Hoogendoorn,
Sorry to hear you are running into performance issue. Can you copy and paste your installation details? You need to go to MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Detail. Also What is the type of projects that you usually work on? What is the file size? Can you find out if there are any processes running which are occupying a lot of system resources? If you can elaborate in detail on the steps to reproduce this at my end, i can get a clear picture and have a dev team member assist you on this. Sorry for the inconvinience.

    Hi Joy,

My open projects (I’ve 26 closed projects in this workspace) :
    1 plugin project
    4 web projects

Total size (open projects): 18,9 megabytes
    Total files (open projects): 4855
    Total folders (open projects): 821

The processes that consume the most memory on my pc are (after a reboot): myeclipse.exe (284 megabytes) and javaw.exe (152 megabytes). My
    total memory is 4702 megabytes.

    Hello,

We’d like to check your memory settings to make sure they are in correct order. Could you paste the contents of your myeclipse.ini file here? It should be in the same directory as the myeclipse.exe file.

    Thanks

    Guys,
We thought we had fixed this for 7.1 but since you’ll are still facing this problem, I’m filing this for further investigation.

    #297783

I’m also experiencing EXTREME slowness with 7.1.1 (7.0 was slow too). It really feels bloated and barely usable now. I’ve told my team not to upgrade until the issues are resolved. I’m very disappointed with this release (the first time for me that Genuitec has really dropped the ball).

Double-clicking something takes 2-3 seconds before the IDE responds. Saving even a small file takes 15-20 seconds with CPU maxed the entire time (and after it saves the file then it goes through the validators). Also my “Problems” view never shows anything, even though I see my projects are all compiling.

I have the exact same workspace I had in version 5 and in version 6, both of which performed very well.

    I have 58 projects:
    2 ears
    5 wars
~20 spring enabled with default validators turned on for that

    -startup
    ../Common\plugins\org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.101.R34x_v20080819.jar
    –launcher.library
    ../Common\plugins\org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.win32.win32.x86_1.0.101.R34x_v20080731
    -clean
    -configuration
    configuration
    -vm
    C:\Program Files\Genuitec\Common\binary\com.sun.java.jre.win32.x86_1.5.0.011\bin\client\jvm.dll
    -vmargs
    -Xmx512M
    -XX:MaxPermSize=192M

I installed as a clean install for 7 then used the update site for 7.1.1.

    elainequeencastle,
The dev team is working on improving the performance for our users and we will get this fixed for the 7.5 release. Sorry for the inconvenience.
