Knut Erik BallestadMemberAfter upgrading from ME 3.8.B2 to GA, I am not able to build my project any more. ME simply consumes more and more and more and more memory while building my project – until it simply hangs and gets nowhere!
My project uses Hibernate, Struts, 3 taglibs, a couple of .jar’s, 400+ java classes, 600+ JSP files.
It is during JSP compile the build process grinds to a halt.
-The javaw.exe (Eclipse+ME) process consumes more then 700MB of RAM at this time. Total memory usage on my PC now exceeds 1,4GB, and I have no other applications running. Physical mem on my PC is 1GBIn ME3.8B2 this problem does not occur!

Giovanni GrimoldiMemberI have the same problem with a web project which have about 50 jsp.
When compiling the project the jsp compilation/validation consumes a lot of time and RAM (over 700Mb!!!).
And if i try to cancel, it continues!!!
I have to kill it in Task Manager. All worked fine with 3.8Beta2!

snpeMemberYou try disable validation in windows – preferneces-myeclipse-editors-xml
(jsp and html validation before others)
August 20, 2004 at 2:05 pm #212888
csellMemberI see no option to disable validation (window-preferences-myeclipse-editors-xml). Are we running different version (3.8GA here).
August 20, 2004 at 2:06 pm #212889
Riyad KallaMemberYes guys the new validators have massive resource requirements (and memoery leaks) please disable them until we get them figured out.
August 20, 2004 at 2:15 pm #212891
snpeMemberI send wrong preferences
It is windows – preferences – myeclipse – validationregards

csellMemberhow do I disable JSP search indexing? That is what is really breaking my (MyEclipses) neck..
August 20, 2004 at 2:36 pm #212895
snpeMemberAre You disable jsp validation ?
August 20, 2004 at 2:49 pm #212896
csellMemberI have disabled ALL validation. My current problem is with search indexing (whenever I do “find in workspace”, see other thread), which kills eclipse completely. I have gone back to 3.8Beta2, as GA is unusable for me.

Riyad KallaMembercsell,
You can’t disabled it currently but its severly busted in WTP so we have disabled it completely in the upcomming patch until we/the WTP team can figure it out and get it fixed up. It eats memory for breakfast which clearly isn’t something we need/want in an IDE.August 20, 2004 at 4:08 pm #212910
snpeMemberI don’t understand – If you think search file or java it work for me
(I do with hibernate, myfaces (complete source of myfaces is aprt of project
spring etcHave You another plugins ?
regards

Scott AndersonParticipantThe search indexing problem will be fixed in 3.8.1, available by Monday, along with a host of other issues. We’ll continue to further optimize resource utilization in 3.8.2. Please install the update when it become available and let us know if it resolves this issue for you. Thanks for your patience while we worked this out.
