I was trying to upgrade to 6.5 today when, during the installation phase, I lost my Internet connection.

Then, because apparently the install portion also needed Internet access, the install failed.

Now, my configuration is really messed up. I’ve tried disabling things that were installed and trying again, but then the install fails on another component.

The installation process seems quite brittle.

My question is can I just restore a backup of the MyEclipse (and other?) directory and start again or are there registry and other things that will make “starting over” more complicated.

If I should just start with a clean install, I should create a backup of my settings and then uninstall MyEclipse?

Please advise the best course of action.

    Thanks.

I was able to just remove the MyEclipse 6.0 directory, restore a backup and then successfully install the 6.5 update!

Now, I’m updating a couple of “currently installed” Eclipse patches which hopefully won’t mess anything else up.

Thanks again for all the replies to past postings on this issue.

    🙂
