jonny_symbolsMemberHi
I am a new MyEclipse user, so apologies if I’m being stupid.
I’ve got a lot of problems with MyEclipse:
1) Right click has stopped working. I know this is caused by some sort of conflict with WST, and I need to uninstall MyEclipse, remove the WST stuff, and reinstall MyEclipse. I haven’t done this yet. I’m only mentioning this, because I wonder if it has a knock-on effect on my other problems…
2) I’ve created MyEclipse J2EE project with Web capabilities. I can edit HTML files OK, and preview them e.g. with “IE preview”. However, JSP files do not get interpreted properly. <%= new java.util.Date() %> gets shown as { new java.util.Date() } on the “IE preview”. Static includes (i.e. with <%@include %>) work OK, but if I use any sort of dynamic include (e.g. with jsp:include or c:import), these are not actually shown in the preview.
3) I have added the JSTL libraries to my project OK, and code completion works fine e.g. with the core JSTL. However, the editor does not catch errors in my JSTL syntax.
4) Following on from 2) and 3) above, the “IE preview” does not interpret the EL stuff; rather it leaves it as e.g. <c:out value = ‘${holiday.holidayName}’></c:out>
My configuration details are given below.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Jonny

Riyad KallaMemberJonny,
The preview is meant as a lightweight quick-shot of what your page will look like. In most cases it will not fully evaluate all taglibs or expressions for you. Their is little cost to deploying the project as an exploded deployment and seeing the page run inside of an app server so we did not try to make the preview view and all-encompassing solution for page previewing.Also a quick way to get everything in tip top shape (to fix that WST conflict issue) is to download our All-In-One installer for Windows and install it to a brand new location, then re-open your existing workspace using it.

jonny_symbolsMemberThanks for the reply.
I would have thought the preview option would be advanced enough to be able to process includes? But as you say, it isn’t too much hassle to check with the real browser.
WRT validating JSTL, surely the editor is meant to do this correctly? Currently this code:
…..
<jsp:useBean id= “accessor” class = “enjoy.BoringAccessor”/>
<c:set var = “holidaysIt” value = “${accessor.holidaysIterator}”/>
…..
results in a warning that the local variable accessor is never used, which is clearly not the case. Is this a bug, or do you think it is a problem with my installation?Thanks in advance,
Jonny

Unfortunately this is a bug we are tracking and hope to get fixed soon. It effects a lot of folks that use a combination of scriplets and taglibs together, very frustrating.
