I just downloaded and upgraded to myeclipse 3.8 GA and found the JSP editor to be prohibitively slow. Compiling JSPs was very slow too (1-2 sec/ jsp page), however once i disable all validation, the jsp compiler ran really fast, however editing is still slow. opening jsp files is really slow too. it seems like it is probably caused by the synchronization of the JSP outline view – i had turned off the “update annotations while typing” myeclipse editor setting.

also, i found no way to disable html validation for jsp pages – i do not want all my <tr> tags underlined with a warning just because i failed to put them inside a <tbody> tag.

    thanks

Good feedback. We know what you mean. We’ll address a lot of this in 3.8.1 which will be available by Monday. The speed and resource utilization of JSP compilation we’ll have to profile and fix for 3.8.2. Basically, we’re running Jasper 2.0, but we can look at memory usage and caching optimizations to help things along. Hang with us and it will improve quite a bit with 3.8.1 and more following quickly.
