My first attempt at installing myEclipse 4.0 and then 4.1 on a box here caused the system to lock-up completely when starting to open the dialogs for settings.

System config:
Athlon XP 2900+
Windows XP SP 2 with all latest patches
ATI Fire GL T2 Card with latest driver

I installed JDK 1.4.2_05 and Eclipse 3.1.1.

Removing the ATI video card and files changed install behavior from hard system lock-up to a dialog saying:
Win32 Error: 0 File: “” Line: 17742 – In the title bar
Text: The operation completed successfully.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I know this sounds like a lame question, but were you running anything else at the time? For example, did you have MyEclipse 4.1M2 running?

I’m sorry to hear you’re having a problem with the installer.

The problem is likely due to the installer selecting an incompatible JRE to
run with (it has a weird lookup algorithm). Rather than trying to figure out specifically what’s wrong, the
fastest way to a working installation is to simply download and install
using the manual installation archive that’s also available in the downloads
section of the website. Manual installation instructions are available on
the portal here:

It’s really quite simple and will bypass whatever issue you’re seeing with
the double-click platform installer.
