Loyal WaterMemberRamakrishna,
What exactly is responding slowly? Is it the auto complete? Is it the editors? We are working on improving the performance of MyEclipse 7.x and our next release (7.5) will be much faster compared to the current release.

Nipun,
Thanks for your quick reply.
The following are the issues i have observed with the new 7.x IDE:
1. When i start the MyEclipse IDE it’s taking long time to open the IDE. And more over when i am checking out the projects from the CVS repository i am seeing the same issue.
2. And one more thing, after installing the 7.1 Ver, the directory structure of the installation is different than the directory structure of 6.1 Ver. This makes me to do a lot of modifications in the build scripts of my projects.
3. To open a normal file also it is taking very long time.
Plz, give your suggestions to avoid these issues to complete my job quicker.
Thanks,

MyEclipse 7.x is based on pulse and that’s the reason the directory structure had to be changed.
As far as the performance issue is concerned, can you switch to a new workspace and work there for a while and let me know if things are quicker in the new workspace? I just want to make sure this is not a workspace related issue.

rk.puvvadaMemberNipun,
I have created the new workspace and started working on that. I found it was bit faster when compared to my old workspace. But need to fix the performance issues from this side also.
Thanks

Loyal WaterMemberRamakrishna,
We are working on improving the performance for our next release (MyEclipse 7.5) which is due next month.May 20, 2009 at 12:25 am #298553
rk.puvvadaMemberHi, Nipun,
I am unable to find some of the Xdoclet packages in the current version of the MyEclipse IDE i.e, 7.x. In the previoues version of IDE i.e, 6.0 I am able to see the following Xdoclet package “com.genuitec.jboss.ide.eclipse.xdoclet.core_6.0.1.zmyeclipse601200710” which i am not able to find in the current version i.e, 7.x as in folder format.
And the difference which i found was this package is came as JAR file i.e, “com.genuitec.jboss.ide.eclipse.xdoclet.assist_7.1.0.zmyeclipse7102009030516.jar” and also this is not same as the old version “com.genuitec.jboss.ide.eclipse.xdoclet.core_6.0.1.zmyeclipse601200710”.
I need your assistance in this regard also. If possible can you provide me these packages as i expected which will help me a lot for my projects.
Thanks

rk.puvvadaMemberNipun,
Can you give some a brief idea about the “Pulse Install Version” and “All-in-One MyEclipse Full Stack Installer” ?
Because, i have seen the same word repeating lot of places “The all-in-one installer is based on pulse, a huge piece of junk, and breaks a number of other plug-ins” by reading the customer reviews.
And also i have seen the same word in the reply which you sent to me few days back.
Thanks

mfkilgoreMemberNipun,
It is great that you are working on much needed performance improvements, and I hope more stability for 7.5 upgrades. You mentioned 7.5 for next month, beyond performance is there a list of features that will be included, I have not been able to find a roadmap that includes anything beyond 7.1? I am specifically interested in portlet 286 support (esp in websphere 6.x/7 Blue) integrated dojo support and groovy/grails. I know there are many more feature requests out there and there is no way you could support all of them, with the release around the corner hopefully you can help us plan ahead.
Thank you

pppooleMemberNipun,
My company’s licenses run out in June and I hope you have 7.5 out in time for me to check it out… I have become quite annoyed with how slow MyEclipse is. The product idea is great and you have some really great plugins, but the stack is too much and is a complete resource hog with very slow response time. If the issues aren’t resolved in 7.5 my company is out.
I strongly suggest that you give the user the ability to disable plugins that are not needed… I do not use over half the plugins you provide and would like to be able to disable them (at least i hope this would solve some of the performance issues). Another is loadup time… it is pathetic. I switched back to ganymede and was in shock at how much more quickly it loaded. I wish i could just pull in a few of your plugins into ganymede and leave the rest behind! You ought to add that ability… just tie them to a registration plugin that is required and allow us to take ONLY the plugins we want. None of this pulse crap and none of this excess overhead. I think this product has lost site of its original goals.
Regards,
Paul

Loyal WaterMemberPaul,
The ridiculously long response time bug got killed yesterday and will be fixed in 7.5m1 going out this week so you can test it out early. For now you can go to Windows > Prefs > General > Capabilities > Advanced and disable the capabilities you are not using.

pppooleMemberdamn… i guess i should have complained earlier! That helped. Thanks!

Loyal WaterMemberYour welcome.

Riyad KallaMemberGuys 7.5M1 is out (under the Downloads > Development Builds) and we have a big performance patch in there with 100s of bug fixes across the product.
We don’t recommend it as a replacement for 7.1.1 yet — but it’s a pretty stable release and if you wanted to try it out and give us feedback that would be much appreciated.
Here are the New and Noteworthies for the 7.5M1 release:
http://www.myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-414.htmlNOTE: You’ll probably have to replace your 7.1.1 install with it and might need to manually remove it before installing 7.5 GA in 2 weeks when we release it.
