I’m trying to install ME 7.1 (myeclipse-7.1-win32.exe) but the process is hanging in the phase of preparing the installer.

In the explorer I can see, that the Genuitec directory structure has been created by the installer. Beside the logfiles install-0.log and installer-0.log which you can see below, there are also files with name install-0.log.lck and installer-0.log.lck present within the logs folder.

Revision:
After waiting for more then 12 hours the installlation process has finished.

It seems to be impossible to upgrade MyEclipse from version 6.0 to 7 within our company.
Nobody else will install ME7.1 when the installation Process takes that very long time.

In the logfile installler-0.log you can see, that pulse2 is trying to download several jars. But if the client don’t have direct access to the internet (–> in our case there is a proxy which requires authentication) the download process seems to wait for a timout, which is in about 5 minutes per jar file.
Can this behaviour be changed?

We need to upgrade to ME7.1 so any solution or workaround to this problem is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the post.

I’ve been pulling my hair out all morning trying to work out why the installer was just sitting there! In the end I downloaded Eclipse and am now doing the web install, which is slow as s#!t over a 512kb connection.

It doesnt make much sense for a complete bundle to need extra downloads. I downloaded the 600+MB to avoid this.

Anyway, thanks for the post, it good to know whats going on.

Thanks for the post. This was quite annoying, I spent 1/2 day trying to upgrade to 7.1.

Its clear “behind firewall” installation is not working, it just hangs on “preparing installer”. If I have the “full installer” downloaded, I don’t understand the need for any internet connection.

WORKAROUND: I downloaded eclipse 3.4.2 from eclipse.org and install it first. Then I downloaded the myeclipse 7.1 “archived update site” and added the MyEclipseIde workbench. With that combination I am able to get myeclipseide installed., without the dashboard.

Will someone at MyEclipse please do something about this? I see the original post is 1 week old, that should be long enough for you to have at least responded on this thread, if not corrected this issue. I am sure that a large number of your clients are big corporations with firewalls/proxies, so I really don’t see why you have the full bundle trying to use direct internet access! My company’s subscription is up soon… if this isn’t resolved in a timely manner, I have no intention of upping our subscription for another year.

My install of 7.1 has been hung at “Resolving and Validating profile…”. I restarted the install – but it is still stuck. Is this a trend? I also had trouble installing 7.0.

Guys we are working on building new installers right now that fix this. I’m sorry you had to wait so long — you are exactly right, it’s the installer forcing itself online for bits and peices it doesn’t need.

You can try and work around this by disabling your network connection before starting (by taking your computer offline) to get it from stop trying to go online. I’ll get you guys installers ASAP.

I unplugged my Ethernet cable and then ran the installer. It still hung at the same point.
