I followed prompts to update and restart the ide. It’s been downhill from there.
I tried removing all new features, plugins, etc., but the thing still hangs.
How does this happen? How can it be fixed?

Sorry to hear that you are facing this problem. To help me investigate this further, can you please copy and paste your installation details here, click on MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details. What are the updates you tried to install and what are the 3rd party plugins you have installed? Can you click on MyEclipse > Utilities > Run garbage collection?
