It gives me error “An unexpected failure occurred initializing the installer. java.lang.NullPointerException”

It would not let me install Myeclipse at all, however I am using regular version of Eclipse.

I tried installing pulse as standalone, still same error

My pc is set to US language only.

    Anyone please help.

    jimagic,

Sorry to hear you are running into this issue. Can you answer below queries for me?
    1. What is your OS and version?
    2. What is the MyEclipse version you are trying to install and how?
    3. Are you behind firewall / proxy?
    4. Can you attach a screenshot which will help me get a visual?
    5. Is this a fresh install? If not, I would recommend you a clean reinstall. Please follow below steps –

    1. Run the uninstaller.
    2. Make sure the MyEclipse Install Directory has been completely removed
2.1. Pulse Install Directory, on XP it’s under C:\Program Files in \Pulse or \Genuitec, and on Vista it’s under <USER.HOME>\AppData\Local and then under \Pulse or \Genuitec again
    3. Then make sure the pulse2.locator file under <USER.HOME> is erased as well

Next install MyEclipse using any of the below mentioned options –
    1. Download and install all-in-one installer from MyEclipse download site here – http://myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-4.html . Ensure you validate the file size and md5sum of the installer file matches to that mentioned in the download site
    2. Install using pulse, instructions mentioned here – https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/installation-how-to-install-myeclipse-from-pulse/&highlight=
    3. Install using archived update site – https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/installation-install-myeclipse-using-archived-update-site/&highlight=
Please note that the FAQs are not based on ME 8.6, please use 8.6 wherever applicable.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for the screenshots. Can you open .log file located in your [myeclipse installation directory]/.metadata/.log and look for relevant issues logged. Have you tried the -clean approach as mentioned below?

    3. Then make sure the pulse2.locator file under <USER.HOME> is erased as well

    jimagic,

I am not sure what is causing the NullPointerException. Have you tried

    3. Install using archived update site – https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/installation-install-myeclipse-using-archived-update-site/&highlight=

Are you not able to install MyEclipse on top of Eclipse Classic?
I shall escalate this issue to a dev team member. Sorry for the inconvenience.
