I just installed 8.5
I selected a number of items in the Configuration Center to install and uninstall. It ended with a rather incomprehensible error dialog:
Pulse Explorer
Validating MyEclipse 8.5
Profile Contains errors
Pulse has been unable to create a plan for MyEclipse 8.5
– Bad update Sites
com.genuitec.puse2.client.common.launcher.BadUpdateSiteException
missing item: … requires org.polarion.eclipse.team.svn.connector.feature.group but it ccould not be found.I removed SVN from my add list and it gave a similar error for “mylyn_feature” so I remove mylyn.
it then processed the other entries.
upon restart it poped up a “console” in the update center with:
4/5/10 3:28:37 PM CDT: Unable to update index for central|http://repo1.maven.org/maven2
4/5/10 3:27:35 PM CDT: Updating index central|http://repo1.maven.org/maven2

4/5/10 3:27:37 PM CDT: Downloaded Repository[d9d714e11cb097b3ffcec91cccc65d3e|http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/.index]/nexus-maven-repository-index.properties
4/5/10 3:28:37 PM CDT: Unable to download Repository[d9d714e11cb097b3ffcec91cccc65d3e|http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/.index]/nexus-maven-repository-index.gz: java.io.IOException: The server did not respond within the configured timeout. The log is filled with a bunch of connection refused errors. When I paste the URLs into a browser I get a not found error.
All the errors and ways of presenting them is a **MESS**.
Can’t I get that Pulse Explorer error in a way that I can easily copy and save it?
How am I supposed to know what to do about it or what it relates to?
What do the restart errors mean and what do I do about it?You may have gotten the “happy path” working on this facility but the error handing is a mess.

support-joyMemberFrank,
Sorry to hear you are running into this issue. Can you answer few queries for me to get to the root cause?
1. How did you install ME 8.5? Using all-in-one installer / pulse / archived update site on top of eclipse classic 3.5.2 / upgrade from a prior ME version?
2. Can you copy and paste your installation details here? Open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details.
3. In case you cannot get the information in point 2, what is your OS and version, are you on x32 or x64 bit?
4. What are the plugins you tried to add?
5. Are you behind any proxy/firewall?I would recommend you a quick fix using pulse. Please go through the below steps –
1. Open pulse. In case you don’t have pulse, download the same from http://www.poweredbypulse.com
2. Login to pulse. You can also login anonymously.
3. Select “Eclipse-Galileo” realm from top left hand corner drop-down
4. Under “My Profiles”, it will list you your MyEclipse 8.5 profile.
5. Select MyEclipse 8.5 profile, select software tab on the right hand pane
6. Under personal software, it will list you all your 3rd party plugins and/or features
7. Remove the newly added 3rd party plugins
8. Notice bottom right hand corner section – “Pending Changes” will list out the changes to be managed
9. Click on [Apply x change]
10. This will open a wizard which will guide you through the rest of the steps.
Let me know how this works for you.April 7, 2010 at 9:50 am #307437I installed the all-in-one package.
The installation details say:

You were right that the main problem was the proxy setup.
After setting that I could install mylyn, but the console window for the Configuration center still listed errors.
After installing SVN it asked to restart and upon restart hung at 40% with an error popup:Multiple Problems have occurred during “Initializing TargetCfg”

April 8, 2010 at 7:08 am #307460
support-joyMemberFrank,
Thank you for the details. Can you please verify quickly if you are able to view myeclipse.ini in the myeclipse installation directory?
Can you list out all your third party plugins?
I would recommend you a quick fix using pulse.
1. Open pulse. If you don’t have pulse, download the same from http://www.poweredbypulse.com
2. Login to pulse. You can also login anonymously.
3. Select “Eclipse-Galileo” realm from top left hand corner dropdown
4. Under “My Profiles”, select “MyEclipse 8.5”
5. Right click on “MyEclipse 8.5” and from the context menu click on [Re-install and run]
Pulse will automatically detect any dependency issues. Let me know how this works for you.Best.
April 8, 2010 at 10:33 am #307480I decided this installation was so messed up that I uninstalled everythng and reinstalled.
I ran into other issues, but I’ll start a separate topic so that I don’t confuse different issues. In general, I’d suggest that configuartion changes not proceed if it cannot make network connections.
April 9, 2010 at 7:09 am #307521
support-joyMemberFrank,
Thank you for your suggestions. As mentioned in my earlier reply, you need to fix network connections issue by setting the proxy/firewall detail here – open MyEclipse IDE, from menu option click on Window > Preferences > General > Network. Next retry adding the plugin.

tennisbum79MemberI f you are not using Maven, you can disable it by performing the following setps
Window–>Preference–>MyEclipse–>MyEclipse4Maven
Click on Maven
Check checkbox for Offline
Click OKYou should no longer be getting this error
EDIT/Correction:
Should have read “Check checkbox for Offline”,
NOT “Uncheck checkbox for Offline”.April 14, 2010 at 12:54 am #307631
support-joyMembertennisbum79,
Thank you for your suggestion.
Frank,

Jean-MarieMemberI added the ClearCase plug-in using Add Site. It shows under My Software\Personal Software but not in the Customize Perspective – Software and Workspace Center -Available Command Groups.
Any thoughts?

April 16, 2010 at 1:46 am #307698
support-joyMemberJM,
MyEclipse doesn’t provide any intrinsic support for ClearCase. Having said that there are users who have added third party plugins to their ME profiles.
Can you answer few queries for me?
1. Can you copy and paste your installation details? Open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details.
2. How did you add ClearCase Plug-in?
3. Can you share the weblink for ClearCase Plugin?
If the ClearCase plugin shows under MySoftware \ Personal Software, and the status is installed then ClearCase is added to ME profile.
What are you trying to do by looking up under Customize Perspective > Software and Workspace Center > Available Command Group?April 16, 2010 at 9:08 am #307715

Using MyEclipse Configuration Center, under software, I added the site, (http://www3.software.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/rationalsdp/clearcase/60/update/windows/)
After adding it, it showed under Personal Software but did go through the “Pending Change” process. This issue is that adding ClearCase to the menu will have allowed me to at least connect to the project repository and check-out and check-in files, which I cannot do at this time

support-joyMemberHello Jean-Marie,
Thank you for the details. I see that the ClearCase plugin shows up under Personal Software, but if you look closely, you can see the version number not included. Also Pending Changes doesn’t list the changes.
Did you get a chance to validate if the clear-case plugin you are trying to add is compatible to base eclipse 3.5.2? Can you share a weblink of ClearCase plugin where you found the update site? Also I would recommend you to cross-post on ClearCase forums and find out how this plugin is added to Eclipse 3.5.2?Thank you.

irdb7MemberHi,
I just had the National Clearcase plugin installed with MyEclipse 8.5, and restarted MyEclipse. But I don’t see anything new on menu bar. What am I supposed to see after Clearcase plugin installed?
Thanks.
