donaldhollidayMemberI have MyEclipse 7.1.1 installed on a Vista Business 64 bit computer. It is configured to “show MyEclipse Dashboard on Startup.”
When I started MyEclipse it showed
Update MyEclipse Plug-ins
Pulse Services and Extensions 2.4.1 Install
Pulse Services and Extensions 2.4.1 Install
SpringIDE for MyEclipse – AJDT Support 2.2 0 InstallInstall/Uninstall MyEclipse Plug-ins
MyEclipse UML2 (Early Access 2) 7.1.0 Uninstall
SpringIDE for MyEclipse – AJDT Support 2.2.0 Uninstall
SpringIDE for MyEclipse – Mylyn Support 7.1.0 Uninstall
Subversion Support ( Using Subversive) 2.1.0 UninstallSo, I clicked all of the Install and the Uninstall buttons and then clicked on Finish. The update ran for a while, downloading a bunch of stuff and then installing it. It then got a window that suggested I restart MyEclipse, so I said Yes.
MyEclipse restarted and showed the following Dashboard.
No updates availableInstall/Uninstall MyEclipse Plug-ins
MyEclipse UML2 (Early Access 2) 7.1.0 Uninstall
SpringIDE for MyEclipse – AJDT Support 7.1.0 Uninstall
SpringIDE for MyEclipse – Mylyn Support 7.1.0 Uninstall

Subversion Support ( Using Subversive) 2.1.0 UninstallAnd now it cycles between the last two dashboards. I select Uninstall for MyEclipse UML2, Spring IDE – AJDT Support, and SpringIDE Mylyn Support, but it continues to reappear with an Uninstall button. I select Uninstall Subversion Support, and the next Dashboard shows that I should Install it. So I click on Install Subversion Support, and the next Dashboard shows that I should Uninstall it. What is going on here?

support-joyMemberdonaldholliday,
The usage of MyEclipse dashboard is to prompt the user with recent updates available. If the Dashboard shows *Install*, it means that a recent update of the specified software is available. If you click on [Install] and click on [OK] It will install the relevant software. Now once installed, it will list the same under dashboard with [Un-install] button. There are a lot of users, who wouldn’t like to install all the updates that MyEclipse suggests, un-install is to un-install the relevant software.
I would recommend you to go through the dashboard, check the updates that you would like to install and click on [Install]. And if you don’t want to un-install any software, you can leave them as-is, meaning no need to press, [Un-install].
I hope this clears your confusion. 🙂
