Our policy to allow multiple use of the same access code for more than one machine as long as they are not on at the same time or shared by others. If the license manager detects two instances of the same access key on the same subnet, it is designed to shut the latest session.But if the user does so, for example, at work and at home then he or she is not in violation.
That thing just bit me. I have three remarks:
First of all, this scheme forces me to shutdown eclipse on one machine to work on the other. May seem like a minor thing but is definitely irritating when you try to synch the laptop (via CVS) from the desktop as you would need to go back and forth a few times to make sure everything got checked in and out as it should
Next: It listed the IP-numbers that it had detected — there was one bogus IP-number, that is a machine was listed on which I never ran MyEclipse.
Third: I can’t disable MyEclipse temporarily to do other things. As soon as I touch a project the dialog pops up, which means I can’t even remove the MyEclipse nature from the project.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but it also prevents a team of 100 from using a single license. The two situations are indistinguishable from each other. Our license clearly states that for a single subscription key only one instance can be active at a time. You may personally use the software on different machines, but not simultaneously.

That’s true and if syncing and shutting down one ME instance before using another one is too inconvenient, you could address it by purchasing an additional license, one for each machine. That way, you’ll never have an issue.

If you’re running DHCP on your network, IP’s will tend to move around rather freely. While ME is running, it remembers all responses from all IP’s using the same subscription key. In 2.8, this algorithm was enhanced to greatly reduce the number of these ‘false positives’ caused by IP switching.

This has also been enhanced in the 2.8 beta, so that displaying context menus for projects won’t disable other actions. That was a bug.
I got the same problem.
I open two version of eclipse (3.0.1, 3.2.1) for two different projects at the same time.
MyEclipse complains too many users are using the same license key and the two ips in the list are the same.
This is definitely a bug.It seems like it, but because in a virtualized environment you can share a single install of MyEclipse with 100s of other clients, we have to check for it (we actually had this occuring).
