ubuntu 8.04 is LTS – long term support (up to 5 years) but it has Eclipse 3.2 Callisto. Will Callisto work with current myEclipse? For how long you guys will support Callisto? Is there limit on MyEclipse versions compatible with Callisto? What is it?

If not, seems like installing Eclipse 3.3 Europa is the only other way. Is there somewhere ubuntu-compatible repository with Europa so I can install it via Synaptic/apt-get and have all security updates?

I”d hate to go back to Windows, but I don’t want to switch to sysadmin job just yet 🙂

    pmasiar,

MyEclipse installs and runs completely independently of the OS you have it installed on. We actually don’t support MyEclipse installed on pre-build Linux/Eclipse binaries, we only support it from the official eclipse.org builds of Eclipse (and the ones we ship with MyEclipse in our all in one installers).

So for the easiest experience, you can just download our All inOne Linux installer for MyEclipse 7.0, run it, and install it, and you’re all set.
