Based on a previous thread, I now have MyEclipse running, and have successfully added PDT, Maven and Subclipse.

When i create a new project and attempt to open a PHP source file, I get an internal error with a stack trace beginning with:

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class org.eclipse.php.internal.core.compiler.ast.nodes.PHPVariableKind
    at org.eclipse.php.internal.core.compiler.ast.parser.php5.CUP$Php5AstParser$actions.CUP$Php5AstParser$do_action(Php5AstParser.java:2561)
