Hi there,

I’m very new to J2EE. I wanted to try Eclipse as my IDE for developing webapplications. I chose MyEclipse as the appropiate plugin to get my work done. So I downloaded and installed the trial. (MyEclipse 3.8.1 on top of Eclipse 3.0 running on a gentoo-system)

Everything seemed to be allright. I got my TomCat up’n’running using MyEclipse and had my very few JSP’s viewed in the editor. They also deployed perfectly. All in all I was pleased having found this plugin.

But now I want to add Struts-Support to a project of mine (Never developed anything using Struts before). I had a look at your documantation and flash-demos, but it seems as some features aren’t available in my setup. For example I miss the MyEclipse-Perspective, Visual Designer as well as the struts-modeler. I think there are missing some more features (didn’t make a list, yet 😆 ).

All in all, I’m not able to do any work using struts (at least not using the MyEclipse-plugin).

Could anybody tell me how to activate the missing features?? As I’m am _really_ new to all that stuff, I’m totally lost. I didn’t find something useful in the forums.

I really want to give MyEclipse a try.

Thanks for your help!!

Thomas,

I’d highly recommend that since you’re unfamiliar with Struts that you begin by creating a new Web Project, Add Struts Capabilities… to it, and then go from there. That will at least ensure that your project is configured correctly to begin work.

For example I miss the MyEclipse-Perspective, Visual Designer as well as the struts-modeler.

This may be an installation problem. Can you please post all the information we request in the Posting Guidelines thread at the top of this forum? That will give us some context so that we can determine if this is an installation issue or a configuration problem.

After reinstalling Eclipse (upgrading to 3.0.1 by the way) and MyEclipse, everything seems to work fine. I think my previos installation got corrupt. This actually could be referred to my several tries to install plugins or something.

MyEclipse is working now.

Thanks anyway!!

Best regards,
Thomas
