I successfully installed MyEclipse 10.5 on a linux server about 6 month ago. I used this env for testing upgrades. I had trouble activating my license due to the grace period passing and the fact that this machine has limited internet access. I have a valid key that expires in 2014. I performed the following steps to reinstall MyEclipse.

Remove the old MyEclipse by adding “_old_20130930” to the end of the file/directory names. The following files were renamed.
/opt/npw/zfxb6work/MyEclipse
/home/zfxb6/.myeclipse
/home/zfxb6/.myeclipse.properties
/home/zfxb6/.pulse2.locator
/home/zfxb6/Workspaces

Installation
/opt/npw/zfxb6work/drivers/myeclipse10.5/myeclipse-10.5-offline-installer-linux.run

Install Message

Sorry you’re seeing this problem.

There shouldn’t be a problem with activating after the grace period, provided you can supply a valid license. On the subscription screen (MyEclipse->Subscription Information) just enter your details and click “Save and Activate Now”. You can also just delete .myeclipse.properties to clear your license and activation details before starting MyEclipse.

It’s hard to think of what the segmentation fault might be other than a physical memory problem on your machine (as a sanity check, I tried the same steps you outlined without problem). Does the segmentation fault occur before any GUI is displayed?

I’m not sure if a corrupt installer might cause the issue but you might check if the md5sum is as expected (1a30d7fed028e908dbd32da6fa16758d). If the md5sum is wrong, you will need to download the installer again. Currently, the 10.x release is still available for download from our Web site, though this will be the 10.7.1 release. If you specifically need 10.5, for some reason, you will need to write to our sales team (sales@genuitec.com) who handle all requests for older releases. Be sure to include your name, subscription id, subscription code, MyEclipse version desired, and operating system so they can provide the correct download link without delay.

Alternatively, you can download our latest release (2013 SR2) to take advantage of the numerous bug fixes, improvements and new features since 10.5. Your license is valid for all releases of the product during the license period.
