I am developing a J2EE application as part of my masters and reporting is one of the things I need to be able to do. My domain is real-time embedded using C/C++ so I’m a fish out of water here. My prof is suggesting I use Crystal Reports even though he hasn’t used it.
This seems to be the only thing MyEclipse hasn’t integrated yet, they’ve made everything else I need to do easy (Thanks again, great product).
What is the ‘best / not too expensive’ package for report generation? Is Crystal good or should I stay away?
I’m confused by your requirements (J2EE IDE, embedded C/C++, Report generation)… so I’ll just say that an extremely popular plugin for Eclipse to handle report generation using JasperReports is here: http://www.jasperassistant.com/
IIRC JasperReports is the Java equivalent to Crystal Reports (VS.NET/C++ thing). I’ve never done reports nor do I know why I would do them, so I can’t really help more than that, sorry. Maybe someone else has ideas?
