lujhuangMemberI’m using Eclipse 3.1 and MyEclipse 4.0M2, and experimenting with the UML plugin. How come there is no sequence diagram support? sequence diagrams are perhaps most used UML diagrams!

David Orriss JrParticipantI noticed the same thing… Looks like once 4.0GA is out I might have to find a separate plugin for UML.. or just stick to Visio…

Giovanni GrimoldiMemberI noted same thing…
Sequence diagram is most used, so I could not understand why it’s missing from 4.0.
Was it due to technical problem in implementation or was a choice?
When will it be added to MyEclipse UML?

David Orriss JrParticipantYea the idea of telling people to get Together for Eclipse 2006 (at USD4000) doesn’t seem like a viable option just for one diagram type… 😛

it seems like technical problems:

msquaredMemberWithout sequence diagrams, I find many of Genuitec’s web statements like
“New Milestone for MyEclipse – Includes UML, …..” incredibly deceptive if not flat-out wrong.Instead, it should be called ” UML *minus sequence diagrams* ”
For me (and most developers I know), the upcoming MyEclipse4 lacks an essential UML feature,
one that makes any other MyEclipse UML features almost worthless since I must continue using
other UML tools to finish the job.Its like selling a saw that only cuts 1/2″ deep to carpenters who use 1″ thick boards: practically useless,
and the limitiation should be boldly noted on the box front.August 29, 2005 at 7:13 am #235869
Werner PunzMemberWell UML is half finished anyway, I for myself found the sequence diagrams in uml rather useless, they have a huge overleap with the collaboration diagrams, and were mainly useless, but that is a personal opinion that aside,
MyEclipse has UML there were you can get in the zero to 100 dollar pricerange, better than Argouml and free poseidon, but not as far as most other commercial offerings. But still it is good enough for many cases and better than all the free options out there.

Riyad KallaMemberSorry I didn’t see this thread sooner, Kapeller is correct, Sequence diagrams were *almost* ready for the 4.0 GA cut but some really annoying last minute bugs made us decide to cut it from the initial release, stabalize everything else and release. We will followup soon with the sequence diagrams.

rajashekhar.kMemberHi, we have just subscribed to MyEclipse and are into design phase of one of the projects. I would like to know if you would provide us with Sequence diagram plugin to MyEclipse UML once it gets stabilized. It would be great if you could give me a rough date as to when it will be done!!!

Brian FernandesModeratorRajashekhar,
Sequence diagrams are planned for MyEclipse 4.1.
Have a look at our roadmap for further details: http://www.myeclipseide.com/ContentExpress-display-ceid-6.htmlBest,
