MyEclipse is Version: 2017 Stable 2.0, Build id: 15.0.1-20171220.

I switched Java runtime to OpenJDK 8. This morning I got the following message:

The DevStyle theme uses custom webfont-based rendering of icons. You are using OpenJDK which has problems rendering certain Glyphs. It is recommended for you to switch to the Oracle JDK.

Is this problem limited to JDK version 8? Does MyEclipse 2017 work with JDK 11? We currently have Oracle JDK license this year but that’s going to be phased out next year and we are seeking alternatives.

    Thanks.

    1) 2017 will not work with JDK 11 (Oracle or otherwise), but our more recent versions like MyEclipse CI (current version 2019.4) do – and we ship with Open JDK, no more Oracle at our end as well.
    2) If you don’t see anything wrong with your icons, you can ignore that warning – there were just a few cases where the rendering would go awry and we thought it best to be upfront about the problem. More recent versions of Open JDK function better, and the warning will no longer appear.
    3) Of course, the warning is specific to Darkest Dark, and our other custom themes that are part of MyEclipse. Just in case the dark theme doesn’t really matter to you, you can switch to the Classic / Windows theme, and you won’t see the problem.

    Hope this helps!
