Despite the MOBIONE settings, and clearing the Safari Cache, and device on/off, we are getting persistent caching errors when opening a web app on the iPad and iPhone. Here is the error:

Error: Unable to cache web page for offline use. Visit Safari settings and clear cache.

Well, we have been on “Safari” so much, we think we are hunting big game in Africa.

What do we need to do to get a web app cached to the iPad, iPhone for no-wifi/connection browsing offline.

P.S. This is a large app – is there a size limit for caching???

Are you trying to install from the mobione “publish as mobile web application’ project or have you uploaded the application files to your own server?

We generate the web app, then FTP the resulting build (all inside the folder), to our server location.

    Here’s a new wrinkle in the drama…

When using the MOBIONE link via QRC shot, to open the compiled web app, it completes the download without asking for the Safari cache to be cleared, etc.

It we bookmark the URL, and add an icon to the home screen, and turn Airplane Mode ON, and the attempt to reopen the app from 1) the Safari bookmark and 2) the screen icon, they both open correctly.

So, what is the difference between the MOBIONE temporary server and a regular web server (Linux, WHM, cPanel @ Godaddy) that we use?

    Here’s another wrinkle …

And, if this keeps up, I’ll look like a prune!!!

Previously, we had been uploading all of the files within the generated folder, to the root of the URL location.

So, we tried uploading the entire folder to the URL, so we access it this way:

    URL/folder/xxx.html

    Guess what!

Correct. The entire app cached via the Safari browser URL/folder access.

We bookmarked the URL, then added the app icon to the home screen.

Disconnecting from wifi etc. via airplane mode, resulted in the app displaying completely.

Methinks a visit to a local Mexican Restaurant for some Martgueritas might be in order this evening.
