Riyad KallaMemberI believe technically installing phpClipse with MyEclipse will work alright, although I have heard from a few coworkers that phpclipse is quite unstable at this time and hard to get working. I’m not sure if this is still the case.
Also the new phpeclipse subproject at Eclipse we have not testing with MyEclipse yet, so I cannot comment.

bubblesMemberwill MyEclipse include php editor?
thanks a lotFebruary 20, 2006 at 2:53 pm #247101
Riyad KallaMemberbubbles,
If the user demand is there for it, we will add it. Right now there hasn’t been much interest in PHP in general.June 9, 2006 at 8:55 am #253331
rbl00MemberWell I would say the interest is there now!! Just look at all the major players getting into the PHP game (Oracle, IBM, Eclipse Project) If there is enough interest in PHP development for Zend to develop a plug-in for Eclipse along side their own Zend Studio then I would have to say the interest is very strong. I currently use PHPEclipse for all my development but it is lacking in some areas, thats why I started looking at MyEclipse (On a recommendation from a friend who is a Java Developer). If you combined the PHP features in PHPEclipse and all the wonderful abilities of MyEclipse, I think you would have an awesome product.

Riyad KallaMemberYou are right that PHP is picking up a lot of steam recently and I checked our issue tracker which does include an item to “Evaluate PHPClipse”. I think the problem for us is we have no expertise in that area, so we are hesitant to include it, then have people file bugs like “Your XYZ functionality doesn’t work” and look around and realize no one on the team even knows what that is.
Like I said though, if enough user requests on our forums come in for it though we would add it, then just deal with the issues as they popped up, but the reason above is why we don’t preemptively add it.

netra1978MemberI am start working in phpeclipse. is it necessary to install myeclipse for that along with eclipse3.3.x

Riyad KallaMemberI would suggest starting with a MyEclipse install first (using the All in One, or Pulse) and then adding the PDT to it from there.
