wilson2010MemberHi,pros, I just got a very funny but annoying issue.
I configured Tomcat 6.0.29 in myeclipse, and of course I can start it. Everything is fine, e.g, I can deploy web applications, bla bla bla. But every time I start the tomcat server, all the information displayed in console is RED. By default, black fonts stand for standard output, RED fonts stand for standard error output. Why myeclipse 8.6, or my tomcat 6.0.29 is using standard error output as standard output? The same issue also applies to configured sun application server 9.1 . If I use myeclipse built-in derby server, the output is black. I know I can change default color for console, but I do hope to see “normal” color for “normal” output, “red” is for error output. Any hints?
And of course this color issue doesn’t affect my development.Thank you pros’ answers to a novice.

support-joyMemberWilson,
I am afraid, I cannot reproduce this issue. I have not seen this issue reported by anyone on forums. Can you answer below queries –
1. Can you copy and paste your installation details? Open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details
2. Can you attach screenshot of your Tomcat configuration? And also of your console output, this will help me get a visual
3. Open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on Window > Preferences. Click on [Restore Defaults], [Apply] and [OK]
4. Can you look into your problems tab and see if there are any issues, if yes, please copy and paste the same here
5. Also take a look at your .log file located at [your workspace dir]/.metadata/.log and check if there are any relevant issues loggedOctober 22, 2010 at 3:44 am #312193

I sent you 2 PMs containing the screen shots.

wilson2010MemberBy the way, if I start Sun Application Server 9.1, console color is all RED too.

wilson2010MemberA little bit more note, I tried tomcat 7, same issue. Looks all java servers are using standard err output.

Yes, by further test, I believe you can easily reproduce this issue. Just don’t use myeclipse built-in tomcat (6.0.13), if I use built-in tomcat, color is black(normal). Please configure an external tomcat (for me, it’s 6.0.29), start it and you will see the red color in console. Looks for this version of Myeclipse, all external servers produce red color output.

wilson2010MemberA little bit more notes, today I just tested myeclipse 8.6 + tomcat 6.0.29 again in a different OS (win 2008) with a complete OS clean installation, the same issue still stands.

support-joyMemberWilson,
Thank you for the screenshots via PM. I see this is an issue with tomcat 6.0.29. The console messages show up in red. I have raised an issue with the dev team members. You can try to download tomcat 6.0.20, I have verified that the console messages show up in black and only issues show up in red. Or use existing tomcat 6.0.29 and ignore the console messages in red. The application would run just fine except console messages would be in red.
Sorry for the inconvenience. -
