    Hi,

i know that this may not be the correct place to ask my question, but i suspect that there are a lot of experiencec Eclipse-Developer here and so maybe someone knows what i´m looking for.

I´m developing a RCP-application and one goal of that application is to calculate and present statistics. In an older version we have used SPSS for this task, but because those stats are mostly frequencies and cross-tabs it´s a little bit exagerated to force them to buy and learn SPSS if they want to use our programm. So we are looking for another way.

I have heard about BIRT but i´m not sure if that is the right tool for us. First it´s mostly for web-applications (?) and then there are no cross-tabs supported yet. So, my question ist: does anybody knows a good tool/framework/plugin that we can use in our RCP-application and that allows the calculation of simple statistics and an appropriate presentation of the results?

    Thanks for your thoughts.

    Christoph,
This is exactly what BIRT is for, report generation. Also while it can be used with Web Applications, it’s actually a general-purpose framework for report generation in general, I think it’s quite popular to use it inside of RCP applications.

Unfortunately I haven’t done development with BIRT, so you might want to start on their site with the tutorials first.
