    Hi,
I’m getting an error during the launch of MyEclipse that I can’t seem to track down. The message is:

Could not install bundle ../myeclipse/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.preferences_3.2.1.R32x_v20060717.jar Bundle “org.eclipse.equinox.preferences” version “3.2.1.R32x_v20060717” has already been installed from: update@plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.preferences_3.2.1.R32x_v20060717.jar

Any ideas? I’m wondering if there was an inadvertent update. It’s not 100% clear to me the distinction between what is in the \eclipse and the \MyEclipe\eclipse directories of the workbench.

    Thanks.
    Carlos

    Carlos,

I’d try two things to correct this. First, try starting MyEclipse with the -clean option on the commandline by modifying the shortcut to be like:

    eclipse.exe -clean ...rest of args...

You should only need to do that one time and then you can change the shortcut back to what it was.

If that doesn’t work, I’d suggest that you install using our “All-in-one” installer as that will ensure that you have everything set up just right to avoid any problems. Besides, if you pick 5.5M1 (under development releases) you’ll get a chance to try out the new SNAPs.

Thanks for the suggestion. I ran the -clean option, but still see the problem cropping up. One thing unusual, is that if I restart MyEclipseIDE a second time the problem doesn’t appear. But it comes back on subsequent launches. So, it’s intermittent.

I did try to move to the 5.5M1, but one thing that is not clear is how my projects move to this version. I am developing plug-ins that are dependent on Eclipse plug-ins in the plug-in directories and would need to update their links to the new directory structure. Is this something that can be done automatically? When I imported the projects the dependent plug-ins still pointed to the 5.1 release hierarchy. Suggestions?
