Siba MohantyMemberThe server does not start. Java Virtual machine Launcher window opens — Could not Create the Java Virtual machine. Also, Unrecognized option: -Xquickstart appears in the Console. Please help.
WebSphere 6.1 starts OK.
Loyal WaterMemberYou need to configure WebSphere to launch with the application server that ships with it, under the ‘java’ or directory under the install dir. When you install WebSphere, in addition to the install directory containing the application server, it also contains a JDK. You must go to your connector settings under Window > Prefs > MyEclipse > App Servers > WebSphere 6.1 > JDK, and configure that specific JDK to launch WebSphere.
Here is a reference post for you incase that doesn’t solve your problem.

Siba MohantyMemberThanks Nipun.
I checked the Websphere directory. It only has JRE, no JDK/SDK. I downloaded IBM Development Package for Eclipse and it has IBM_SDK50. I used this to configure myeclipse JDK for websphere6.1. The server starts. When I stop the server I get the folowing message in the console —
ADMU0116I: Tool information is being logged in file
E:\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01\logs\server1\stopServer.log
ADMU0128I: Starting tool with the AppSrv01 profile
ADMU3100I: Reading configuration for server: server1
ADMU0509I: The server “server1” cannot be reached. It appears to be stopped.
ADMU0211I: Error details may be seen in the file:
E:\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01\logs\server1\stopServer.log
Loyal WaterMemberSo the server starts without issues now and your facing problems stopping it ? Can you paste the log here for me.

I made the changes suggested in another post as a work around — Enable Admin Security — FALSE
The server starts as a Windows service using websphere start process & runs fine.
However, start from myeclipse IDE is not working. the server seems to start, but fails to start. i watch the Windows Service but do not see the server starting. Tthe startserver log is empty.
I then started the server using Websphere start process. It starts. the startserver log is given below.

!MESSAGE Unable to locate .myeclipse.properties file
Riyad KallaMemberGuys,
I just went through this setup this morning, it works fine but you need to do the following:1. Install WebSphere 6.1
2. Setup the WebSphere 6.1 connector in MyEclipse to point ot the home dir, the rest of the entries should auto-populate themselves.
3. Go to the JDK sub node, and click Add. Drill down to the E:\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer directory, there is a “java” subdirectory, select that. It’s a JDK
4. Start up WebSphere, load the Admin Console from the Start menu, and login.
5. Go to the Server properties, under Logging and Tracing and go to JVM Logs. Setup the output for System.out and System.err to both be “console”Now you should be set.
NOTE: Starting and stopping the app server from inside MyEclipse will not change how the Windows Service’s status looks. They are two separate things.
NOTE: Be sure the Windows service is stopped before tyring to start WAS from inside MyEclipse, the two will clash with eachother and throw an exception if you try and start both.
Lastly,
To fix that .myeclipse.properties files error, you can simply create that file in your user home dir (C:\Documents and Settings\<Login Name>). -
