    Hi,

I have just downloaded “MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench 3.8.4 M7 Beta for Windows 98/2000/XP (5/17/2005)” and did a clean install of Eclipse 3.1M7, followed by a clean install of MyEclipse 3.8.4 M7, and added the –clean option to my MyEclipse Start menu setting so that it now reads as follows:

    “C:\Program Files\Eclipse\Eclipse 3.1M7\eclipse.exe” -clean -vmargs -Duser.language=en -Xmx512M -Dosgi.splashLocation=”C:\Program Files\MyEclipse\eclipse\MyEclipseSplash.bmp”

After clicking on this menu item to launch MyEclipse/Eclipse, when I then go to the Eclipse Updates window and select a new feature to install in the update manager I get the following error:

“The current configuration contains errors and this operation can have unpredictable results.“

The error details for this are:

“MyEclipse Web Development Tooling (3.8.4) requires plug-in “org.eclipse.core.runtime (3.0.0)”, or equivalent.”

I have tried to find a solution to this in the forums but I have followed the only relevant advice I could find (i.e do clean installs of Eclipse and MyEclipse and then run with -clean argument) and it hasn’t made any difference, so I’d be most grateful for some help…

    Gavin,

I’m sorry to hear that you found this problem and it’s causing you some angst.

Basically, you can safely ignore the reported error since it is caused by a simple packaging issue with the top-level feature. What’s basically happening is the workbench is reporting we need 3.0.0, and it isn’t recognizing that version 3.1.0 is a valid substitute, since we didn’t explicitly say it was in our feature. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, but you may consider it a “false positive” that we’ll address in our next beta release for 3.1.
