Good Evening,

I recently installed Eclipse version 3.1 and MyEclipse version 4.xxx (the latest available as per a week ago). Soon after, I began receiving microsoft popup errors about “Application failure…. The memory could not be read.” It would fault either the java.exe application, or occasionally the ep6667.exe process. Then they would crash. This has become extremely prevelant lately – each time I try to run my application on Websphere, as soon as I try to click on anything within the application, java.exe crashes/Websphere crashes (sometimes with, sometimes without the error message).

I’m running on a HP box, windows xp professional, and I’ve got 2GB RAM to work with. Websphere is using about 666,000 K on avg, so there should be plenty left.

I’ve now uninstalled MyEclipse, but my java.exe process is still crashing when I try to run my application.

Have you seen this before?

If the processes you were describing were just Java processes, then this could possibly be OutOfMemoryExceptions. However you mentioned ep6667.exe which seems to be a native executable and has nothing to do with Java, so there are two likely causes of all the crashing.

1) Your memory is bad or going bad, you can test it using this piece of software: http://www.memtest.org/ OR http://www.memtest86.com/

2) You have a virus. Be sure to scan your computer thoroughly for viruses and/or spyware after updating the definitions for your scanners
