If I am running as ‘root’, I can create a new J2EE/Web-module-project.
But if I am running as an ordinary user, the creation step fails
with the message ‘Invalid thread state detected on read’.

This is a new MyEclipse installation. The version is 2.7RC2.

    The Eclipse version is 2.1.2.

    The OS is RH7.1.

    The Java version is j2sdk1.4.2.

    Thanks!

As the symptons indicated, this is a permission problem.

MyEclipse requires ‘write’ access to the eclipse directories.

This is not appropriate in a multi-user environment.

Actually, write access is not required when using a purchased subscription keys. If you require testing in a multi-user environment prior to purchase, a special trial key must be issued manually. To receive one, please send an email to support@genuitec.com and reference this thread.

Also, please be aware that when you finally do purchase your subscriptions, you’ll need to buy enough keys to cover the number of users that will be using the shared instance. Basically, 1 instance does not equal 1 key. 1 user equals one key.
