I’m having trouble getting the provision profile file from the Apple Developer account.
It’s asking for a device ID. I don’t have an iPhone, BUT I’m developing an Iphone app for someone who does.
How do I get this file without being able to add a device?
I’m lost here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
You need to get the device ID of the target iPhone and add that to the list of devices in your iOS Dev Center account. Then you can create an Ad-Hoc Distribution profile that will work on the aforementioned iPhone.
I’m creating an app that a realtor can use to give to their clients.
I don’t have an iPhone device to get the device ID from.
How can I do this if I don’t have a device ID?
AND, if the realtor is giving the app away for free, then why would the device need to be specifically identified? It will go out to hundreds of other iphone devices that his customers own. Surely I can’t ask hundred’s of his clients to provide a device ID.
What can I do if I don’t have an actual device ID? I still need to finish the app.

If you want to DISTRIBUTE the app to a bunch of people, then you need to create an App Store Distribution Profile (for which no device ID is needed). However, you will not be able to test with the App Store profile, and it is highly recommended that you run your app on real hardware at least once before submitting it to the App Store. The only other option is Enterprise Distribution, which is probably not what you want to get into (see https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/enterprise/).
These are the only Apple-supported distribution mechanisms available.
