I am not able to do a fresh install of myeclipse 8.6 on MacOS with pulse explorer. After some unsuccessful tries I finally managed to download pulse3 tar gz version and to get it running from the shell. Now, if I go to the myeclipse store and start an 8.6 custom download (I like “all”) PE just jumps to a ~65% progress bar and stops there. This is not a real progress bar, is it? Why the fake? We as your customers are long experienced Java developers, not Windows beginners … What the hell is the beast doing? I would like to see clear messages, find a log etc.
I still seem to have some old (7.5 MyEclipse) and respective Pulse Explorer stuff laying around in /Applications as well as in /Library (it would be nice to have a clear advice which of this stuff I can harmlessly delete!). BTW: Why do I find something under both directories? Is this windows? Usually MacOS applications are just installed (and even easily relocatable) under just one directory, e.g., /Applications.
Besides helping me to get this running, it would be great if you could describe the process and the points where we might look up the current state and the errors if something fails!

Sorry for the delayed response. The simplest way to install MyEclipse, is, of course to use the offline installers. Did you try using this? You can get it here: http://myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-4.html
The custom installer is applet based and therefore susceptible to problems associated with applets. Some browser OS combinations won’t work – we are steadily improving this, the custom installer is a new addition to the MyEclipse installer suite. I will admit that the initial progress bar isn’t great looking (it is only indicates the installation progress of a very small application), but it’s the best that is possible until the local installer runs, which certainly displays a very serious progress bar.
1) Can you send us a screenshot of the point at which it is stuck for you and what browser you are using?
2) The exact version of OS X, whether it is 32 or 64 bit and whether you have a 32 bit Java installed.
3) If you tell us what MyEclipse content you have under /Libraries & /Applications, I can tell you what to delete, if this is a working 7.5 installation, you don’t really need to delete it at all.Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
