I am developer, and we have to go through a proxy to get to external sites.

I am able to install new software in Galileo.
    Setting: General->Network Connections
    Active Provider: Native

This works fine in Galieleo but the same setting does not work with My Eclipse 8.0
    – Clicking “Add Software” brings up ‘Validating system and server connection’ and it sits there for ever.
-Bring up ‘Would you like to open the Pulse Communications Wizard’
    -Clicked Ok
    -Set up the proxy
-Connection was validated with by the wizard
    -Went to add software
    -Was able to add site
-It added the site – set it’s status ‘To Install’
    -After clicking Apply
-Its stuck at ‘Resolving and validating the profile’

How can I DISABLE pulse. I do not need it. We are up for renewal and may have to reconsider.

    hsingh72,

Have you added your proxy information to MyEclipseIDE? You mention that you have been able to do that on Galileo. But it is not clear if you have setup the same on MyEclipse IDE. If you haven’t done it, I would recommend you to open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on Window > Preferences > General > Network Connections. Set your proxy details here.

Also what is the 3rd party plugin you are trying to install? Can you provide the update site? Are you on ME 8.0 / 8.5 M2?

I did add the same proxy setting [Native] as I did for Galileo.

I want to install a RegEx Tester plugin http://brosinski.com/regex/update

I gave adding software again in MyEclipse
    – Add New Software
    – Stuck in “Performing Final Connection Test” forever…………

I’d first check the connectivity through your proxy (try to update MyEclipse), and to the brosinski site.
I just installed both this Regex tester, and the Regex util thats available from the Pulse catalog, and they installed (and work) just fine.
I’m one of those ppl that has had lots of problems updating from behind a proxy because of Pulse, both at work and at home, but ever since ME 7.1 (and the corresponding Pulse updates) all is fine, without me changing anything on my local proxy’s, it all just flows (both updates and new installs) through (inside-) port 80 (home) and 8888 (work).

    Thank you Ton.

    hsingh72,

Can you try out the suggestion given my Ton?
