    Mike,
Sorry for the late reply, We’re putting in the final touches to get it out to you guys ASAP. The exact date will be announced once we are 100% done and it has passed our strict QA. We are almost there 🙂

Tommorow is the tenative time frame. We held it back for some last minute things that popped up. This release, while a point release, is huge. 120 bug fixes and enhancements at my last count with a large number of those more annoying ones and polish going into the DB tools. A lot of under-the-covers work.

no prob – been there, done that. I can totally empathize…….

you might want to update the MyEclipse Workbench Progress Portlet………..

Our announcement notes weren’t ready just yet so we secretly push it out to the update manager and download section. We should make an official announcement with the New and Noteworthy docs in the next day or so.

Tried to update to 4.1.1 w/Find&Install and Manage Configuration and neither worked. No errors reported contacting eclipse.org, myeclipse, or other update sites. All I ever get is “No updates for the currently installed feature(s), please try again later.” I currently have 4.1.0 GA and my Preferences for Install/Update are set to “compatible” (tried “equivalent”, too, no dice). I am using a proxy but it’s correct and works for other stuff I do, and as I mentioned I’m not getting any connection errors.

Manage Configuration shows MyEclipse as installed and enabled, and “Scan for Updates” doesn’t find anything. When I go into Software Updates/Find and install then choose search for new features, I don’t see MyEclipse in the list. But the updater seems to be finding MyEclipse and looking for updates. Do I need to add a URL in this dialog in order to find MyEclipse updates?

It would be nice if somebody from MyEclipse posted to the “Installation, Configuration & Updates” forum with an official notice of both download availability and auto-updater availability status when a new version arrives, no matter how minor or how official. Even if announcement notes aren’t ready, at least mention it’s out there on the updater so folks aren’t surprised, even if pleasantly so, and so those of us with problems using the updater know for sure the updater has a new version or not so we can appropriately ask for support. Right now I just can’t tell whether it’s out there or not. Is it?

    Gerry,

Yes, it’s out there. We’ve had thousands of updates using the sites already. It’s peculiar that you’re not seeing the update. It’s preconfigured in the software. You shouldn’t need to do anything other than search for updates as the product knows where to look.
    However, the URL is:
    http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/updates-4.0/
Try entering a new update location manually and giving it a try.

And *yes* when you enter it in a browser you’ll get a “denied” because you can’t browse it. But it works fine as the update site link. 🙂

Scott, that worked for me and it’s all downloading right now. The question is why it wasn’t working via the normal “preconfigured” updater?? I wonder if anyone else is having this problem? It’s obviously not an issue with the validity of the updater, or correctness of my proxy settings. Is there somewhere I can look to determine what my “default” update URL is (since it’s hidden and “preconfigured”)?

    Thanks,

    Gerry

After it finished downloading everything I got this:

You cannot install in the site “file:/c:/Program Files/MyEclipse/eclipse/”. It is considered non updateable. The site cannot be modified by this product. It is already associated with product: “MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench:4.0.1”.

If I open Window/Preferences and select MyEclipse, the splash screen says I’m running:

    Version: 4.1.0 GA
    Build Id: 20060122-4.1-GA

Any ideas what went wrong? I can do fresh install if needed, but I’d prefer to be running the updater.

To check what is going on I just installed 4.1 GA with Eclipse 3.1.2, then ran the updater and it updated fine. I think what might be going on here is an install issue even though your versions look good (As you mentioned). PLease go ahead with the fresh install, sorry for the trouble.

I am having exactly the same problem. I have Eclipse 3.1.2 (updated from Eclipse 3.1 via auto-update) and (currently) MyEclipse 4.1.0 GA. I have my update prefs set to “compatible” and still I get the same error message.

I too can also do a fresh install, but I thought that I would post this so you know that it’s not just a one-man problem.

    Cheers,
    Dan

Hmm Dan, I will try and test this later today with Eclipse 3.1.0, maybe that’s the problem. In the mean time please do a fresh install so you can atleast keep working and aren’t waiting on me.
