Since installing 5.5.1 on my Linux box (Novell SLES 10 64-bit, JVM 1.5.0_11), every time I start Eclipse 3.2.2 (with MyEclipse 5.5.1 installed), as soon as it comes up, it tells me “The workbench must be restarted to fully complete the MyEclipse installation process. MyEclipse will restart now.” I let it restart and from that point forward, I don’t have any problems.

This happens EVERY TIME, I start Eclipse. Any ideas as to what it’s looking for and how I might shut this restart prompt off?

    Thanks!

Thats strange. Have you tried starting MyEclipse with the -clean command line argument ?

If I put -clean on my command line, the restart prompt disappears. If I take it off, the restart prompt comes back. According to the information in the link posted, I should be able to remove it.

Other than a performance penalty at load time, will leaving -clean there permanently hurt anything?

Keeping the -clean in the eclipse.ini file is harmless, it just increases startup time by a very negligible amount. For the time being, you can keep leave the -clean in the eclipse.ini. We’ll take a look at this issue at our end and get back to you with an update.

I have the same issue. I am runing under Windows XP Pro. I have JDK 1.4_08. When I put the -clean in the eclipse.ini file, I can get by that “Restart to complete instalation” message, but now I can see at the bottom of the IDE where HTML Validation is still running. When I try to do anyting in the editor eclipse hangs. ANy ideas?

Try setting up MyEclipse into a brand new location using the Full Stack install. This can be downloaded from our download page.
