I am running MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench Version 8.5 (Build id: 8.5-20100319). I entered the MyEclipse Configuration Center to add the PyDev for Eclipse software but also had another change that I couldn’t uncheck ‘Shortcut name changed’. After applying both, I receive several errors about org.eclipse.ecf.filetransfer.IncomingFileTransferException: HttpClient connection error response code 503.

I believe my company does have a firewall in place preventing me from getting to an outside site for updates. Not a big deal I thought, I can just cancel the updates and add PyDev from an archive.

However after trying this, my Server View is nowhere to be found and the Preferences -> MyEclipse -> Servers menu only has the built-in Sandboxed servers (which I don’t use).

I tried to do a -clean (both in the shortcut arguments and in the myeclipse.ini) to no avail.

I’ve tried uninstalling and re-installing from the myeclipse-8.5.0-win32.exe I had (Pulse updates also fail because of the corporate firewall and content blocking) and I still have this annoying other update to ‘Shortcut name changed’ that I can’t prevent from applying whenever I want to add something.

    Please help!

    1) Is there an .exe of MyEclipse 8 (prefer 8.6.1 or most recent version) that won’t prompt me for this annoying update so i can re-install my required plugins?
    2) If option 1) is not possible, how can I just install the plugins I want from archive without this ‘Shortcut name changed’ messing things up?

    cjackson0,

Sorry that you are seeing this issue. Looks like your installation is corrupted.

Can you please do a manual uninstall and then try installing MyEclipse to a different directory ? Our latest release is 10.7.1 version and I recommend you try our latest version to take advantage of over 3-4 years of developments and fixes made to MyEclipse since 8.6.1. The license you hold for 8.5 is still valid for 10.7.1 too as our licenses are time based and not version based.

Here is the FAQ for manual uninstall :
    https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/installation-how-to-manually-uninstall-myeclipse/

You can download the latest version from here :
    https://www.myeclipseide.com/index.php?name=Recommend_Us&req=Download&version=ME

Once you have installed the latest version, switch to a new workspace and check if the issue persists. You can set up proxy/firewall information here :
Window > Preferences > General > Network Connections.

Let us know how it works for you.

Our experience has been that MyEclipse 10 changes the workspace in ways that are incompatible with other team members still on MyEclipse 8 or 9. We all use source control so any changes to the .project or other files must be compatible with other users.

I have heard that MyEclipse 9 is still compatible with 8. Is there a version of that available for download?

I was able to resolve the issue with the following steps:
-Complete uninstall of MyEclipse and delete any remaining Genuitec folders under c:\Program Files (even though I installed MyEclipse to a different directory)
-Install MyEclipse 8.5 through the EXE I already had
-Launch MyEclipse to confirm ServerView was still working
    -Close MyEclipse
    -Launch Pulse-Explorer
-Perform update of the ‘Shortcut name changed’ update
    -Close Pulse-Explorer
-Launch MyEclipse to confirm ServerView was still working
-Add another plugin to profile but do NOT apply updates
    -Close MyEclipse
-Launch Pulse-Explorer and apply 1 update
-Repeat previous steps for each plugin, performing them 1 by 1

    cjackson,

Can you please clarify if the “Servers View” goes off when you are adding any plugin directly from the MyEclipse Configuration Center ?

MyEclipse 8 projects will need an upgrade when moving to MyEclipse 9 and higher as the base Eclipse version is different.

I also recommend installing MyEclipse 10.7.1 and check. You can install it alongside your existing 8.5 install without uninstalling the 8.5 version.

Yes, the ‘Servers View’ was messing up when adding a plugin directly through the MyEclipse Configuration Center (before I fixed it). I have not tried re-adding a plugin through the MyEclipse Configuration Center since I resolved the issue, and don’t really have the time to re-create the issue since it is now working.

Installing 10.7.1 is a good suggestion just for troubleshooting measures. I may do that later just to see, but I’m not sure.

    cjackson0,

Please give the 10.7.1 a try when you have time and let us know if you see any issues.

I was able to successfully install MyEclipse 10.7.0 and the necessary plugins.
