I know it is a small and unrelevant error, but I do report it nonetheless since it still is not supposed to remain there…

In manual-install.html in the 3.8 beta 1 Manual install zip file, there are a couple of small errors:

    1. The Title is MyEclipse 2.7 Manual installation (should be 3.something, since the document refers on 3.0M7+).

    2. In step 6:

(Note: For windows, make sure to use 2 backspaces for each directory seperator.)

    Backspaces should be backslashes.

    Rob,

Thanks for reporting these. We’ll get them fixed for Beta 2.

And unfortunately there is also one more serious one:

In Step 7 it is printed in red, that:

IMPORTANT: As soon as Eclipse restarts, immediately shut it back down, delete the directory at <eclipse>/.config, and then restart Eclipse and continue as below.

However, there is no <eclipse>/.config directory in 3.0.

I guess the <eclipse>/configurations directory is to be deleted in 3.0…

    Regards,

    Robert

    Rob,
Again your attention to detail is appreciated. You are right that these instructions are no longer accurate (I believe in previous M-builds they were :))

    Robert,

Actually you’re correct in that they moved .config to <eclipse>/configurations. However, the problem in M8 that made deletion necessary has been fixed in M9 and RC1 so this step is no longer required. We’ll definately get those docs updated for the next beta. Thanks again for all the helpful feedback.

Does this then mean, that the manual install can be successfully carried out with extracting the zip file, and making the extension link from within the Manage Configuration screen of Eclipse, too?
