When I try to insert a Snippet into a javascript file – I right-click and say insert but nothing happens, the same action when I’m in a Java file brings up the correct Snippets dialog.
Do I need to do something special to enable it for JavaScript?

Hmm, we fixed some bugs with the JS editor in 3.8.4 that will be released later this week, we would encourage you to wait until then, then upgrade and see if the problem disapears.
Is 3.8.4 still coming out this week?
It should be out right now… I know the Update site is out, maybe the new installers are still uploading…
I installed 3.8.4 – but it still does not work in a .js file. It will work in a .java or .html file – but not a .js file. It will only work with a .js file if I open it with the text editor – which of course doesn’t give me the outline.

This would be a huge help to us as we have a fairly extensive javascript api. Any ETA?

Likely the next release as I just saw this morning the bug is being investigated. That will either be 3.8.4 QF1 or 3.9. If it is 3.9 the end of March time frame, if we do a quickfix then sooner (usually a few weeks to a month).
If you are absolutely stuck in the mud and need it ASAP, I can see if the devs can cut you a quick drop-in patched JAR file.
A drop-in patch would be great if I could get one – this would be very helpful for us right now.

When it get’s fixed, assuming it can be done, I’ll keep you posted. Please note that I cannot comment for the dev team or management, so this isn’t a promise that I can get you a drop in patch, but I’ll sure try.
