We are running MyEclipse 4.1.1 – this is a problem on both Windows 2000 Pro and XP Pro.

We are able to start the Sun Application Server 8.2 without any problems. However, when we try to stop the server through the toolbar button, we immediately see a message saying

***This server has been successfully shutdown***

However, the java.exe process is still running. We have to manually kill the process in Task manager before we can restart the app server.

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Rob,
We modified the application server connectors in 4.0 to kill the running app server process, are you sure the java.exe process running is the App Server process? Can you still connect to the app server? If you switch to the debug perspective, do you still see it running?

    Hi Riyad,

In the debugger, the process shows as <terminated>.
When I try to restart the server, it just sits there until I kill the java.exe process, then it will start up fine.

I’m using JDK 1.5.0_06, if that makes a difference.

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Rob,
Do you have an install of JDK 1.4.2 installed to try?

    Riyad,

I tried with 1.4.2 and am having the same problem. Could it be a problem with MyEclipse 4.1? Now that I think about it, I believe this was working properly with MyEclipse 4.0.

    Rob,
We tried to reproduce this locally and couldn’t on one machine, but the developer in charge of the connectors asked me to open a tracking request to look into this, so we’ll dig deeper.
