    Hi All,
When I am creating a J2EE app, there are options to create Enterprise Application Project, EJB module project and Web module project.
Is there a way to create a java project with support java files in it and when I deploy the ear file, support jar file will be created and be a part of the ear file? I have supporting java classes that are shared between EJB and Web modules.

    Thanks
    RC

RC, not yet. We will add support for this in 2.8 and appologize for the inconvenience.

I see this as a important item to address if the tool is going to gain support as a serious IDE for web application development.

RC, I assume you were using ClassPath: in the web and ejb projects manifest.mf files to load this support jar and then trying to add/deploy the support.jar in the EAR project/jar?

As this does not work then would you agree that the least ugly option would be to duplicate the support.jar in each of the individual projects? ie added to ejb.jar using manifest.mf and ClassPath: and for each .war using WEB_INF/lib?

    Further news:

Taking into account J2ee1.3 ear packaging and classloader dependencies between ejb’s and war’s, I think I have found a pretty clean compromise (it is working on jboss3.2.3).

If you add the support.jar into the ejb project and specify it in the manfest.mf, then at deploy time the jar is visible to all the ejb classloaders children (the war classloaders), therefore more or less giving it EAR wide visibility. I have yet to do some serious testing, but first attempts seem to be good.

    Paul.
