thatfieldMemberWhy was this feature removed from some of the editors? I was hoping this feature would be added to all the editors. Now there is only a Displayed Tab width. Please add “Tabs to Spaces” back in.

Riyad KallaMemberWe had another user report this and I think it was an oversight during the hustle and bussle. We’ll add it soon.

thatfieldMemberThe tabs to spaces option is still missing in 3.8.1

Riyad KallaMemberIts still on our todo list, we need to stabalize ME before we look at non-critical issues.

thatfieldMemberThe tabs to spaces option is still missing in 3.8.2 😥

Riyad KallaMemberThe earliest we would consider this is 3.9 (features) and I can’t even promise it for that release because we have such a long list of other critical enhancements and features that people have deemed “necessary”.
BUT, all of our lists can change at the drop of a hat based on user demand, if you get enough users that want this, then we will bump it to a higher priority. If you are the only user that wants this, and 90 other people want Spring/Hibernate support, then we have to be fair and focus our time on Spring.

Charles HasegawaMemberBump from our whole team. Tabs are evil.
Not only this, but there seems to be a number of options that are now missing from editors.
We cannot format the documents.
Code assist for HTML elements are in CAPS only (and since the formatting is out, it will not switch them for us).September 30, 2004 at 2:45 pm #216551
lucindaMemberThis is a problem for our team too.

rlsaulMemberI consider the editor(s) crippled and nearly useless without the the ‘convert tabs to spaces’ ability.

Neal TovsenMemberAuto-format, while not strictly mission-critical in the sense of being able to make software, is definitely #1 (make that #0 or #-1) on my ultimate pet-peeves list. I have been known to ditch IDEs that do not provide this feature. (not that you guys are at risk of that yet 😉 )
Two thumbs up for this one.

Riyad KallaMemberGuys I just double checked and this is marked as a high priority item, I added your comments and hope we can get it into the next release before 3.9.
Sorry for such a long delay on this, our editors totally changed in 3.8.0 so we did loose some functionality, but gained a lot in the mix as well.

stchomeParticipantWhile I can appreciate all the new features – and as a developer I know it isn’t always reasonable to have your entire team working on one piece of code base (like having everyone working on features of the JSP editor), I’m still a little disappointed to lose features because you changed the editor.
While you certainly make your overall package more appealing by adding things like Hibernate support, having to go backwards on the JSP editor in basic functionality and settings is not a trade I would make…
As an end user, I should never have to see a loss of functionality unless you have to lose it forever.

Ryan FrithMemberNot having a way to convert tabs to spaces in the JSP editor makes it virtually unusable. I must now use an external tool to convert the tabs back to spaces again…that REALLY slows down the development time. It is truly a fatal flaw. Please fix ASAP (and make it a setting global to all editors too!).
The rest of the app is fantastic!

Scott AndersonParticipantTabs to spaces conversion for all editors has already been coded and will be part of version 3.8.3 in December. Sorry for the wait.
