Checking for updates.
Receiving the following problem dialog:The following update sites reported problems:
http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/7.0/updates/supporting: No repository found at http://…I can proceed with the pdate process, however, this problem dialog is pretty annoying. Could you please help.
Thanks,

support-joyMemberRalf,
Sorry to hear you are running into this issue. We are unable to reproduce this issue at our end. But I do see couple of users reporting the same error. I need your help to track the root cause and get to the fix.
For starters –
1. Can you tell me, what is the update you chose to run? Did you try to install the update from MyEclipse Dashboard? I will appreciate if you can list the update name and the version you tried to install.
2. Do you have any 3rd party plugin added to your MyEclipse install? Can you list them here for me. You can get them from Help > Software Updates > Add/Remove Programs
3. Can you open pulse2.properties file. You can find it in your MyEclipse installation directory. Try looking at your MyEclipse installation folder ~\library\Genuitec\Common\configuration\pulse2.properties, can you copy and paste your pulse.handshake.id?
4. Can you go through your log file and see, if there are any relevant errors logged? You should be able to find it here ~/Workspaces/.metadata/.log
5. Can you copy and paste the complete stack trace here. This is a valid link -http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/7.0/updates/supporting, can you list the complete error here, I am looking for “No repository found at http://… ”
6. Is there a possibility that you are behind a proxy/firewall? In that case you need to setup your proxy by clicking on Window > Preferences > Pulse > Network Settings. Add the proxy settings. And for communications tuning choose Maximum compatibility. If that doesn’t work, choose Native Java network connectivityJune 2, 2009 at 3:26 am #298935
Ton HuismanMemberCan agree that I have received the exact same message the last few days, or maybe even a week.
I’m just doing a Help/ Software Updates/ Check for Updates… with a few plug-ins installed (Extended VS Presentation, CheckStyle, PMD, all from the catalog). It reported the last few days, after confirming to continue, that there are no updates available, but just now, after retrying the same steps a second time, it updated ‘EclipseSkin’ (Extended VS Presentation). This may be due to the fact it sometimes takes the actual updates a few days to get updated in the repository.June 2, 2009 at 9:11 pm #298966
Matthew PangaroParticipantI’m getting the same error, and it basically means I can no longer use MyEclipse. I attempted an updated to get 7.1.1 updates from the MyEclipse updater, and got an error. Thinking it just meant that I’d miss some part, but probably not so bad, I allowed it to continue. That left me with all update capability gone, and chunks of ME functionality disabled. I’ve wiped my local profile install, reinstalled Pulse, etc., but this issue persists. There’s no stack trace in the error window and there’s nothing of interest in the logs. I normally operate behind a proxy, but I’ve moved out from that to eliminate that as a possible cause.
Please give some advice. This process is way too brittle. Maybe it’s an Eclipse problem, not an ME/Pulse one, but I certainly seem to run into problems that require me to dump a whole workbench/profile way too often.

Matthew PangaroParticipantThis also appears to be a problem specifically with the MyEclipse 7.1 profile, since an install of 7.5 M1 is now proceeding swimmingly.

support-joyMemberhuisma13,
I cannot thank you enough :-). This issue had been a pain in the neck, as we were unable to reproduce this at our end. I have one question though – did you get this issue when you tried to upgrade from ME 7.0 to ME 7.1.1. I have done tests in 2 different XP systems. One having prior installation of ME 7.1.1. I couldn’t reproduce this issue. While in another system which had ME 7.0, I am able to reproduce this issue. The key thing here is upgrading from ME7.0 to ME7.1.1 and choosing the update option. I have documented the steps and raised a PR for the dev team.
mattp , BeSharp,
Can you also verify below steps?
1. Download all in one installer from the following site
http://www.myeclipseide.com/index.php?name=Downloads&req=viewsdownload&sid=31
2. Install 7.1.1(Please note that I had ME7.0, and no prior installs of
ME7.1.1). The install went fine without errors. When installing ME prompted if
7.0 profile is to be updated to 7.1. I clicked yes.
3 To add 3rd party plugins(already available in
the catalog), go to Help > Software Updates > Add/Remove Software
4. Click “Add”.
5. Enter “Extended VS Presentation” and click “Next”
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for “CheckStyle” and “PMD”.
7. Click “Apply”.
Now an error occurs saying that no repository is found. If your steps don’t match as mentioned above, I would request you to share your set of steps. I want to eliminate all the error scenarious.
Thanks for your help!

Ton HuismanMemberJoy,
I can indeed confirm that I upgraded from 7.0 to 7.1 to 7.1.1 but I’m just seeing the issue with the updatesite for the last few weeks only. And after choosing to continue, I can proceed normally. Thought occurred to me that, now you are moving toward the 7.5 release, the 7.0 update sites and download structures are being cleansed from the pulse servers, as 7.0 never was very ‘successful’ release.
The only ‘major’ difference here being that I’m running on Vista x86 (32 bit) SP1, instead of on XP, but I’ve used the installer-suggested paths so the entire install is, by default on Vista, in the c:\Users\dadada folders.HTH

delfuegoMemberI am seeing the same error, and like others, it means that I cannot perform any MyEclipse updates — somewhat concerning. I’m on OS X 10.5.7,
The exact error: “The following update sites reported problems: http://downloads/myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/7.0/updates/supporting: no repository found at http://downloads/myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/7.0/updates/supporting These problems may cause the profile to fail to launch or just have features missing. Do you want to proceed with the launch anyway?”

delfuegoMemberAs an additional data point, when I try to go to the site mentioned in that error message:
http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/7.0/updates/supporting
I get a 403 Forbidden error. Does the site even exist?

support-joyMemberThank you Ton, delfuego,
The dev team is working on this issue. I will get back to you.

support-joyMemberDev team has fixed this issue. Can you please give it a shot again?
A big thank you goes to pulse team to resolve this quickly and to huisma13, who navigated us to the right direction.
Thank you all for your patience.
Let me know how this works for you.June 4, 2009 at 8:15 am #299048
Ton HuismanMemberJoy,
I confirm that the error no longer occurs at my site. I get no updates now, but that’s probably because there are none 😀
Thnx for resolving this,
