    OS: Win XP.
    MyEclipse: 3.1.0
    Tomcat: 5.5

Suddenly Tomcat is running x-times slower when started via MyEclipse.
This means that the startup of the server is taking between 450-500,000 ms to start instead of the usual 10000ms.
Compilation of a simple JSP is taking about 3 minutes.
Everything is local to my machine, including DB.
The “suddenly” really means that it suddenly happened (over the space of an hour), during which time I did not alter Tomcat or MyEclipse preferences (to the best of my knowledge).

Tomcat startup and performance is OK outside of MyEclipse.

    Any suggestions?
Deinstalling MyEclipse and re-installing it seem to be my only hope, but that is not something I want to have to do.

do you start tomcat in debug mode ?
i know that different is too big, but try in run mode ?

do you install (include smoe which you uninstall later) any new application in windows (except tomcat and myeclipse) ?

Did you be sure to reboot?

    No Windows installs/deinstalls were performed.
stopped and restarted almost every s/w component involved.
Restart and shutdow of PC sevral time, with and without n/w connection.
    All to no avail.

Problem is solved but I have no idea how or why, and that is not good.
I re-synced with CVS, started Tomcat in “run” mode from MyEclipse and then again in “debug” mode and it started to run normally.
Again, no Preferences changes were applied and no OS changes were applied.

I know this will not help anyone else having the same problem, but I really have no idea why I lost 5 hours between yesterday and today, but after performing the above sequence performance returned to acceptable levels.

    Thanks anyway for your responses.

    szkwcc ,

you have had any trash in tomcat (logs or applications) – always, you try first clean tomcat logs and reinstall applications (if it’s possible) – MyEclipse call tomcat same like you call it out of ME (except you don’t change ME preferences)

    best
