P.HillMemberI’m in the MyEclipse update center and wanted to add a new Software Update site.
So as it says at http://www.liquibase.org/download the update site is: http://www.liquibase.org/update/eclipse/plugin/My entire install was created within the month and includes a bit of SVN (subversive).
After adding a person update site it says “apply 1 change”, so I click and then it’s off to figure out if everything is OK. “Validating Eclipse 8.5….” which sounds like a good thing to do before throwing in something else. Yet I get a very useless set of Items there are names which seem to suggest connections to SVN and liquibase (but don’t actually useg the name of these parts listed in the update center) I’ll assume that 1st error is the key problem:
“Only one of the following can be installed at once:
Core Runtime 3.3.100.v20070530 (org.eclipse.core.runtime 3.3.100.v20070530)
Core Runtime 3.5.0
(see complete list below)I wonder what is making this automatic process want to include two “Core Runtimes”? Since searching on Browse software reveals nothing called or even suggesting to be Core Runtime).
My Personal Sites lists includes “Galileo Discovery”, but my Public Sites also includes
“Eclipse 3.5 (Galileo Discovery)”, maybe this is a problem. I don’t known since which software site is the source of the conflicting updates is not shown.Note that there is no additional errors in the eclipse log after trying this install update.
I was just trying to update my MyEclipse and add one add-on? What can I do to get rid of this conflict and install this plugin?
I would be appreciative of any help that can be provided.

support-joyMemberPaul,
Thank you for the details. Let me clarify that MyEclipse doesn’t provide any intrinsic support for LiquidBase. Having said that there are users who have successfully added 3rd party plugins to ME profiles successfully. Please refer http://www.liquibase.org/download . It mentions
The current version of the LiquiBase Eclipse plug-in is 0.6.
To install, add http://www.liquibase.org/update/eclipse/plugin to your Eclipse update sites.
It is currently based on a very old build of LiquiBase and should be considered a “technology preview”. A major update is in progress and should be available soon.
Please note it doesn’t mention which version of Eclipse it supports. I found that Eclipse 3.5.1 and 3.5.2 cannot add the said plugin, it reports LiquidBase as not a valid update site. I would recommend you to remove LiquidBase plugin from your ME profile. Please cross-post to LiquidBase forums and find out a validLiquidBase – eclipse plugin for 3.5.2, since ME 8.5 is based on Eclipse 3.5.2.
Hope this helps.
Best.

P.HillMemberSince I linked in the exact page you linked I already knew about it’s questionable nature, so when you repeat what I said I am not encouraged.
But allow me to point out that the error message printed gave me no indication that Liquibase was the cause of wanting the conflicting Core installs. In fact, I’m not convinced that is the problem. I’m thinking I’ll pick another plug-in on a future date and some mysterious set of double install conflicts will be listed and I won’t know how to resolve two core installs.
It took a bit of pecking on the Configuration screen to work out how to delete something.
Trying to delete the the added Site over in the My Software list is not possible, because its delete/remove functionality is turned off why? It doesn’t say. I have to find the particular package being installed somewhere else in the list.I’m still not impressed with the ability of the Config Center to present the right information.
Please send feedback to development that this screen needs lots more work.
1. There is no way to know what is the right order to delete things in the My Software list or how to find how sites are related to which installed packages, so I can remove an entire site.
2. When there are conflicts the error message are inconsistently formatted and identify the packages in a flurry of names and version numbers, so a user is supposed to notice and then work out that
Core Runtime 3.3.100.v20070530 (org.eclipse.core.runtime 3.3.100.v20070530)
is the same as
To: org.eclipse.core.runtime [3.3.100.v20070530]
listed nearly 20 lines later!
and simliarly that
Core Runtime 3.5.0.v20090525 (org.eclipse.core.runtime 3.5.0.v20090525)
is the same as
To: bundle org.eclipse.core.runtime [3.5.0,4.0.0)
which is also many lines later.Note how the second “To:” isn’t even formatted the same as the 1st and doesn’t list the specific rev number despite the error list being absolutely cluttered with such numbers.
Note in English any one thing Depends _on_ or _upon_ another — “depends from” and “depends to” is not English it is just bad software message writing. It needs work.

support-joyMemberPaul,
The update site for LiquidBase mentioned above doesn’t work for Eclipse 3.5.1/3.5.2, hence doesn’t work for ME 8.5. I will escalate your feedback regarding pulse messages to the dev team members.
Sorry for the inconvenience. -
