BrandonMemberSo I have been trying for about two hours to get my app installed and a test upload to Apple.
I have created the csr using the code signing utility on the tutorial page (several times).
I have uploaded it to create a certificate on Apple developer (about six times)
Created numerous provisioning files, even with different names as I saw one post said they thought it was using an old one.
All to no avail. When I try to install on my device from the download link it says Unable to Download Application, could not be installed at this time.
When I try to upload to Apple ( I was hoping to get a specific error to look at) it says it failed the codesign. Now, I have another thought also. I just renewed my license and the app was published before ( Idont want to resubmit it as an older version is currently available). Could this have something to do with it.. no idea.
For Support, my last build number was 2752026
Any suggestions are appreciated as I know some of you have been though this several times.
Thanks in advance.

Paul_paulParticipantAre you trying to update an existing app?

BrandonMemberYes I am

Paul_paulParticipantAll I know is I used the same name, app id and profile. I went through all this a couple of weeks ago, error messages every time I try to upload, in the end it just worked and I have no idea why.

BrandonMemberYeah I already read that hoping it would help. I’m thinking I got something off a bit, just not sure what and no idea how to find out.

Paul_paulParticipantdamn frustrating I know, I’m gonna go through some stuff you prob already know maybe something will click:
1) Do you have a current development certificate? According to Wayne they only last 3 months but I’m sure it’s longer.
2) Make sure your distribution certificate and private key match. I’m not sure if a different dis. cert. would make a difference.
3) Use exactly the same name as the app you are trying to update but change the version number.
4) Use exactly the same app id from the original upload (not a wild card * thing).
5) Use the same provisioning profile (app store submission). You might want to try building it with your ad-hoc profile and see if it installs on your device.
Log out of application loader, log back in, try again, that what I kept doing.Failing that can you remove the app from iTunes and start again?, I have never been in that position so I don’t know if you can, you would have to change the name of the app I guess, seems a shame to do that.
That’s all I got 🙂

BrandonMemberThanks, Ive done all those expect the last one, trying with the ad-hoc. That would be something to try to see if it is a problem with the files, not sure if it would give me clues to which one though…
The only reason I dont want to redo the app in the app store is there are still people who use it, mainly most the staff has it installed on both the iPads from the school and their personal devices. This would make re-installs necessary instead of just an update. But I guess if I have to I will. Im doing this as a donation, so Im not making any money from it but i still wanted to keep it easy for them.

Paul_paulParticipantI once had a problem with permissions on an image though I doubt it would be that.
Anyway maybe support will be able to help more.April 19, 2013 at 11:10 am #338253
support-alekseyMemberHello CincyPlanet,
thanks for you patience. Can you please confirm that you are not able to run app built with AdHoc cert & provisioning profile on device? If it is the case, can you please post build id for this exactly app build.
As for posted build id, it appears to be perfectly valid & signed app and possible reasons are:
– you have changed app name of app/bundle id; please check it against one presented in iTunes Connect
– your profile and certificate looks pretty fresh :); if so, please wait one more day and try again.April 19, 2013 at 11:29 am #338255
BrandonMemberYes, the certificate is new as I just redid my license.
I will try the adhoc one today.Do you mean wait a day until I try to reupload it to Apple, or rebuild and try to re-install?
April 19, 2013 at 1:34 pm #338259
BrandonMemberAd Hoc failed also with the same error when installing on the phone. It says waiting for about 30 seconds before it tries to install, this may be it trying to download, not sure. Then the bar goes about 90 percents and errors out.
Build number 2756043

BrandonMemberOk, I got the Ad hoc one to install. I had my old phone udid listed so I updated that and it worked. build 3023028.

BrandonMemberOK, so I redid the app store provision file and it also installed, though I didnt do anything different than before.
stickleback:” in the end it just worked and I have no idea why. “
Seems to be the case here also.
I will try to upload it to the appstore later tonight when I get home to my ‘mac’.

paulDMemberGlad you got it sorted. Its a god dam awful process to go through, although the new provisioning portal is better and easier to work with.
I just got my 3rd app into the store yesterday with not much of a song and dance. Its always a worry when you get that email saying your apps in review……. Touch wood i’m 3 for 3 with no rejections!

BrandonMemberThanks. It is a lot better than it used to be. I am going to make a few more tweaks before I submit it (if they send me the info to update it with) before I submit the final one to Apple.
Yes it can be tough. When I first started two years ago I made the mistake of doing the app exactly like the client wanted, which was mainly a variety of websites in one place along with some pdf documents and one login site. Needless to say Apple rejected it multiple times without very detailed explanations, sadly they are better now then they were. It got to the point I was telling the client it was ready to submit for rejection…lol. I did finally get it in with some major revisions. I dont plan to activate the majority of apps but this one I am doing gratis. As long as I dont have problems with the certificates I feel my app projects I am working on now will go smoothly.
