I’ve tried three times, unsuccessfully, today to install the full MyEclipse 8.5 downloaded installer on Windows.
This installation is being done on VM Fusion (Windows XP Pro) on a Mac and has worked fine with 7.5 and version 8.
The installer looks like it’s going to work, but then dies with non-error messages.
The first time I tried the install, at some point in the process, I got an error dialog with an “x” but no actual error text.
The second time I tried the install, I got “The Pulse-explorer executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shard library.” I was then told to “re-run the installer so Pulse could fix things.”
OK, so the third time I tried it I (again) got the box with an “x” but no red text.
I can’t install the Mac version due to the missing features (and possibly the strange behaviors I’ve had in the past).
Yikes!!! I now have no working copy of MyEclipse.
I’ll send the image to “Scott’s” attention on the support email.
Please let me know to install, OK?
Thanks.

Scott AndersonParticipantM,
That’s very unusual since we test on Windows XP VMs all the time. Can you check the checksum on your installer? For the Windows installer it should be: a9038148dcde9066abc3711bf8ee636c
You can get that with either the md5sum <filename> command on Windows or md5 <filename> on the Mac. A corrupt download would certainly explain the issue. If the checksum is correct, then I’d suggest you download the Pulse installer for 32-bit WIndows at http://www.poweredbypulse.com Once it installs and opens the Pulse Explorer you can select MyEclipse 8.5 for installation from the ‘Popular’ section. That should definitely do the trick. If the explorer lists any existing installs in the ‘My Profiles’ section then you should delete those in the Explorer prior to performing the new install.
March 27, 2010 at 5:44 pm #307065Thanks Scott.
MD5 matched.
Ended up having to boot into safe mode and removing the Genuitec directory.
Now, the install is going OK.
Another thing, do you find that MyEcipse takes forever to load on the Mac?
I have a Core Duo (2.53) with 4 GB. MyEclipse sometimes takes 5 minutes to load. It’s the slowest app I have.
Just wondering what your Mac experiences were.
Thanks.

Brian FernandesModeratorMork, I just answered your Mac issues here: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/method-pop-up-lists-not-appearing-in-myeclipse-8/#post-307075
As far as your issues with the installer was concerned, if the MD5 was correct, you should certainly have not run into any issues – Did you have any other instance of ME / Pulse running when you used the installer? Any idea if you had enough space on your C drive?March 28, 2010 at 10:14 am #307078Brian,
Don’t know if Pulse was running or not with all my failed installation attempts, but once I removed the entire Genuitec directory all installed fine.

Scott AndersonParticipantM,
Glad to hear that took care of the installation issue. Thanks for letting us know.
