    So after way too many hours of wrestling with MyEclipse installation, I’m completely discouraged. I tried several things, including:

    1) the all-in-one installer (http://www.myeclipseide.com/Downloads-index-req-getit-lid-137.html) which seems to install fine but then gives me the “Myeclipse executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library” error. I followed suggestions mentioned here (https://www.myeclipseide.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t-22448-start-0.html) but no love.

    2) I cleaned all that out and installed the Pulse and chose MyEclipse 7.0 (using defaults). Same problem.

    3) I installed Eclipse 3.4 (not 3.4.1) and tried using the update site but got the common version mismatch problem (https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/can-t-install-version-7-with-eclipse-ganymede-classic-on-osx/&highlight=mac+os+x), though I don’t understand why the mismatch mentions Eclipse 3.4.1 when I’m definitely starting from a clean 3.4.

    The only thing I can think of for the Pulse installation problems is that there’s an issue on a case-sensitive drive (which is the case for me even though it’s not the default format for OS X). I would have assumed that wouldn’t be an issue for this kind of application, but there are definitely “duplicate” directory names with difference cases; ex:

    $ pwd
    /Library/Genuitec/Profiles/MyEclipse 7.0
    $ ls
    Eclipse.app Myeclipse.app configuration myeclipse.app

    Please help, I’d really like to get this working.

    Hi,
    Im sorry you are having a hard time setting up MyEclipse. I have asked the dev team to look into this issue and they will get back to you with an update asap.

    sgs,
    I just tried the installer one more time to make sure it works. I can install and run w/out any problems. There’s a chance you are using custom setup. Can you check your partition type in Disk Utility? I will attach a screenshot where you can see you partition type.

    Nipun, Eugene, thanks for the quick responses.

    I don’t see how to attach a screenshot, but my Disk Utility says “Mac OS Extended (Case-Sensitive, Journaled)” – in other words, just the case-sensitive file system is different. I really suspect that that’s part of the problem with the Pulse installation (though I hope I’m wrong), but I still don’t understand why the Installation through Eclipse 3.4 doesn’t work.

    Make sure you don’t check Matisse features. Unfortunately, Matisse is not compatible with Mac OS X atm.

    Bingo, that worked.

    May I suggest that a note about NOT selecting Matisse be added to the instructions on the download page?

    I haven’t looked at submitting a separate bug report, but is the case-sensitive format issue for Pulse being tracked somewhere?

    Thanks again.

    Yes. Thank you for the information – looks like all our developers that use Mac use case insensitive partitions 🙂

    OK,
    I am not sure where Matisse comes into play here but I have the case insensitivity problem which BTW exists for both MyEclipse and PulseExplorer, albeit with less severe consequences it appears. Anyway, the only way I can get my MyEclipse installation to “work” is to copy the contents of /Library/Genuitec/MyEclipse 7.0/Myeclipse.app/Contents/MacOS/myeclipse.ini (note upper case Myeclipse.app) to /Library/Genuitec/MyEclipse 7.0/myeclipse.app/Contents/MacOS/myeclipse.ini (lower case myeclipse.app). This .app directory is where the myeclipse executable exists.

    This is obviously not satisfactory since my confidence in the installation right now is low to say the least. Is there a fix in the near future?

    Many Thanks,
    /Daniel
