    Hi,

I upgraded Eclipse to 3.3 by renaming the existing one and installing the new one in the original place. (this is fine, since I use -data to start up my workspace.)

Next I tried installing MyEclipse 6.0, but it tells me I should install it to a new location.

Can I follow the same steps as described for Eclipse?
Will my current settings be preserve since I use -data?
    How about the plugins?

    Regards

    Ramin,

The installer insists that you select a new directory because installing over an existing installation will likely yield an install that won’t work. Once you’ve installed, simply opening your existing workspace is all you need to do to keep developing. Using -data does exactly that. As far as any external plugins, you’ll need to readd them to the new environment if they’re not already part of your Eclipse 3.3 installation.
