Upgrade from MyEclipse 7.5 to MyEclipse for Spring 8.6

    My company just bought a subscription for MyEclipse for Spring 8.6. We previously had a subscription for MyEclipse 7.5, and was told to upgrade. I downloaded the exe file for MyEclipse for Spring 8.6, and initiated the installer. The installer runs for a time more or less ok, but I’ve been sitting for quite some time (several hours now) with a message:

    ‘Iinstalling MyEclipse for Spring 8.6: Network failures occurring: ~ 4.9 MB remains’

    I couldn’t find any logs with any other errors. I am not sure what ‘network failures’ in this context mean.

    So what is my next step here? Should I uninstall MyEclipse 7.5 and then install MyEclipse for Spring 8.6? I also tried upgrading via the “Get Started” button listed on this page, http://www.myeclipseide.com/index.php?name=Recommend_Us&req=Download&version=ME4S , but that didn’t work either.

    Any suggestions?

    Tombrey,

    Please verify the installer file size and md5sum matches that mentioned in the download site. It looks like you are facing network issues while downloading the software. Can you copy and paste your IP address? Please open http://www.whatismyip.com and copy and paste the same here. Also place a tracert to http://www.myeclipseide.com This is to verify that there are no network blockages.
    Can you please confirm if you are behind any firewall / proxy?

    I received a bit of advice from another MyEclipse user, who told me to delete the ‘PulseExplorer’ folder and try the upgrade again, and it worked. While it didn’t seem to make a lot of sense, I do not argue with success.
