Am I missing something here or can you do a upgrade?
do you have to uninstall m1 then install m2?

You can upgrade most easily by using the Eclipse update manager at Help > Software Updates… > Find and Install… > Search for updates of the currently installed features…
Once executed, 4.0M2 should be found on our update site and installed for you automatically. A restart at the end will be required to see the new features.
