    HI.
Just need an answer to a quick question.
have built my app, but the problem was with the map widget, (have tried everything, brain burning up now) i really wanted to call a search for google maps eg: call a request for dentist’s in and area close to a persons position, by using a button on a seperate screen.
is it ok just to make a link from that button to request a search in google maps via a URL ? eg.http://maps.google.com/maps?q=+dentist&iwloc=A&hl=en This does work but now what i really wanted.
feel like giving up on this project, but i’ve spent a lot of hours on the rest of the app, so don’t want to just let it go.

anyone have a way to do this?

    Cheers.

    Hi.
Using the above URL request to google maps for hospitals in phones local area works fine on my experia z, gives a detailed list, but also have Samsung ace, when the request is run on this device it shows locations in America? Even though gps and location services are on?.
Is the request valid?, what am I doing wrong? Anyone have any idea how to do this request using the map widget?.

    Thanks Uplink1001.

Sounds like you want the Google Places API: https://developers.google.com/places/documentation/

Don’t make things more difficult than they have to be.

Here’s an example of what can be done with Mobione and the Google Places API:
